My nephew and I went on a fly fishing trip down on Boulder mountain in southern Utah. We fished several lakes and ended up catching some nice Tiger trout.
Awesome! I wish work would have cooperated so that I could have been there with you guys. You should add a couple of still shots at the end of the video footage.
Wow that's killer! Just moved to the arean and planning on heading up there as soon as the weather warms! Is there a certain slope you would recommend to start with? So many lakes to choose from...hoping to get a ton of remote hiking in. Cheers!
@@TroutHowler thanks for suggesting those Three Lakes in the red Castle area. My wife and I just got back. We were only able to make it to one of those Three Lakes. You will recognize the lake we were fishing from the video. We caught a few nice ones on a leech and a Caddis larva dropper. I should have brought a large reflection of flies. I could see a few larger Cutthroats swimming around but it couldn't get into any of them. I'm sure there were some bigger ones in deeper water. It was a great time though. ua-cam.com/video/r7NaIpsKjXE/v-deo.html
Well early on it was just hiking my butt off hitting as many lakes as possible. I found a lot of good lakes that way. It is a lot easier now with all the info on the internet. Anymore I research as much as I can about the various lakes I plan to visit and correlate that info with the stocking history for each lake. I focus most of my time on lakes where the fish are 4 to 6 years old
@@benlee526 A 20 inch brook trout is a hog for sure. I usually have to go to Wyoming or Montana to get ones bigger than that. I've caught a handful over 20 in Utah but not many. The largest brook I've taken in Utah actually came out of the Uintas many years ago----but on average, you definitely have better odds of getting a big one on Boulder.
I can't stop watching your videos they are great! You fish some really cool spots. I'm looking forward to your adventures in 2019.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I don't fish as much during the winter cause we only have a few precious months of skiing
@@TroutHowler I hear ya. I've been out a few times this winter and it hasn't been anything to write home about anyways.
Hey............that guys my nephew too! Looks like you had fun day on the mountain.
I need to get your kids to go with me some time
Yea, I think Hunt would dig it!
Dude I’ve never skip your videos ever and now I just figured out that I haven’t subscribed!!! Such a dummy!! Amazing videos
Haha, well I appreciate you watching even if you weren't subscribed

There's good lakes all over that mountain. This guide should point you in the right direction wildlife.utah.gov/pdf/boulder_mountain_fishing.pdf

@@TheHuntingSpot I'll check it out. I'm glad you got into some nice fish.
Do you live in Wayne county, I do, I am wondering where these lakes are?
How do you research and find your lakes ?

Nephew....
Haha, that was my first fishing video and he was there
We went and hiked Lion head the backside and fished Coleman. Tiger trout. Back side if lion is crazy beautiful.
@@tiffanysharp2408 That area is certainly beautiful. How did you do at Coleman?
@@TroutHowler Tiger. Ww didnt fish long. It burned since I was there last.
That was a skinny fish. Skinniest I've ver seen.
Yeah it was funny. Every other fish we caught there was at least average if not on the heavy side
@@TroutHowler feast or famine! I love Boulder Mtn. Have caught some nice tigers and brookies there. My best so far is a 20 inch brook trout.
