FT losing isn’t a condemnation of FT. The FT figure is good, this is simply a testament to improvements in XTB products. Are they where they need to be? No. Have they made incremental improvements of a long span of time? Yes. This is a win for the collectors.
I also prefer the FT's for the reasons you mentioned... it looks more heroic, less childish. They were able to make a not so great looking character into an interesting, heroic, good looking figure. Is like the Jetfire situation... Phoenix has an amazing but updated design, and Takara's will look cartoon accurate, which is not a compliment in terms of aesthetics (at least personally speaking).
If xtb just had that darker windshield. That would be nice. Maybe a sticker? In any event, im definitely getting the xtb version. I like stuff like the 4wd being there, because im into the vehicles that these characters are, so to me that is always fun to see.
I enjoy watching the verses a lot. I have switched out a lot of my figures based on these, however I am going to stick with the XTB. I am happy with that purchase, and like you tell us all the time, "If you're happy, you win."
I think XTB should win for the lone fact they didn't release a teaser to stall the market, then take FIVE YEARS to actually put out the product. Same thing they’re doing with Blitzwing. A-holes.
Well, I'm pretty happy with my XTB and I usually have it in alt mode. But if money was no object I'd grab the FT for bot mode. But Trailbreaker for me is basically there to fill out the crowd, so I don't see it happening. As always, your reviews are appreciated. Got to admit I like the family's contribution regardless of how informative it is or isn't. And geez, what's up with people hating on non-transforming display pieces? Like, I don't collect them and I might not watch every review but if I saw the right one, I'd get it. Anyone else can enjoy them. Because we're all allowed to like what we like.
This versus video is exactly why these types of videos are necessary imo...when I see the older XTB figure by itself I thought Outrider was light years better looking at them separately which is why I got it & I LOVE IT...but seeing them side by side shows me how close they are...this goes back to my opinion on Tesla 2.0 in that I feel like a more expensive figure should be better but XTB gives us decent figures for the price point...I think a collection with XTB, FT, MMC, & Takara figures mixed is more interesting than being a slave to 1 company...& U can throw in any other company as well...as long as the figures aren't str8 trash it's ok...I want a mostly toon esthetic display but I also want to explain my collection as well...I jus hope as a community we can learn to support all the companies to keep their healthy competition so they all give us great figures to collect & display...thanks for the versus Mr. Skull Face lol
This pretty much put the nail in the coffin on my thoughts on this. I've been happy with my Aegis+. I do like most of the aesthetic differences on Outrider, but I don't like them enough to pay $190 for it and sell my Aegis for MAYBE $100. I feel the same way about XTB's Springer and Ultra Magnus. The only bot that I REALLY wanna replacement for at this point is Windcharger. I will say, I think the XTB vs Fanstoys Hoist is gonna be a much different game though.
FT outrider is just on another level it’s something you have to have in hand like most FT products. XTB feels like a kids toy in comparison and in regards to looks man the proportions on FT just look better in every way. From the beginning of the rise of 3P MP, the argument has been better toy vs cartoon accuracy. Maybe the problem has always been that stylization from cartoons is better left in animation. The lack of slavish adherence to toon accuracy is actually why people prefer them. It’s not a bug. It’s a feature.
I will never understand the slavish adherence to toon accuracy. MP-36 looks good precisely because he doesn’t actually have cartoon Megatron’s face and proportions.

Wish all youtubers can be honest like you and not just trying to be a fanstoys fanboy (cough TMReviews ). I thought Xtransbots did a good Trailbreaker I have a X- Transbot Aegis toon version, I will wait for MP Takara Tomy Trailbreaker. Great review sir
Man, I just can't agree with this review. I've got both these guys in front of me, and just about every comparison in this video is misleading. That leg comparison in particular is embarrassing. XTB is double jointed, sure, but not in a healthy way. Show the entire process for bending both those legs back and forth and then tell me XTB is "better". And you seriously praised XTB's feet over FT's? The ankle tilt is nearly identical, but the difference in look and finish of the 2 mechanisms is night and day. I know you've gotten flack in the past for being a Fanstoys fanboy, but lately you seem to have become an XTB apologist. Like whatever you like, but I really don't think this was a fair comparison.
For a long time I had Ocular Max as my Hoist and X-Transbots as my Trailblazer, but the X-transbots just always looked...a bit off to me. So I put the payment on the Fanstoys, sold the X-Transbots and Ocular Max, bought the Xtransbots Hoist (which actually looks better as Hoist), and bought the yellow Ocular Max Trailblazer (who I put in Hulk Hogan poses). I should be getting my Fanstoys soon, and hopefully everything should be as it should be...

Meh, the XTB aesthetics point more toward “toy”, and the Fanstoys aesthetic points toward “really nice collectible figure”. I think the review was fair as far as the the line goes. You’re right though, XTB is more toon accurate, and overall, that makes them second to Fanstoys in my book.
I think they should've at least tied in terms of accuracy. What FT loses with its heroic proportions, it more than makes up for by being more clean. The toon didn't have kibble on the sides of the legs, for instance.
The XTB arms look dumb to me. Too thick and the hands are so off centered! That just looks really weird. Also, maybe they both use a lot of paint, I think FT uses far better looking and feeling paint. The red on XTB knees particularly looked sloppy. Oh, and no hip skirts is a huge win for FT for me.
I don't agree with some categories and with the end result. Accessories- XTB Gimmicks- Tie Build- Tie Materials- Tie Hardware- FT Articulation- FT Sculpt- FT Paint-Tie Scale- XTB Transformation- FT Alt Mode- FT Presence- FT Price- XTB Accuracy- FT XTB- 3 FT- 7 I agree that the FT may be better articulated even though both are not that good. Is the XTB able to peck deck? Because the FT one can't and, in my opinion, every blaster holding character needs to be able to peck deck or it will hinder his ability to be posed while shooting the blaster. In my opinion everything on the Fans Toys looks better, specially the lower legs. The FT alt mode looks more accurate and I like it better. Besides the colors on the shoulder canon and the fist blaster I think the FT is more accurate then the XTB even though none got the chest and head right. Thanks for the comparison Mr. Skullface. P.S. Please don't take this the wrong way, I watch every one of your videos and I comment on all of them so you know I like what you do and I take your opinion into consideration but there were some small mistakes on the video regarding the charts.
Accessories- XTB
Gimmicks- Tie

XTB- 3
FT- 7
I agree that the FT may be better articulated even though both are not that good.
We can ignore them and focus on what you were saying but maybe you would prefer them to be right, I know I would if I was in your place.
Ummmm,....Deformation Space?.. Trump called and said he wants a re-count! Lol
Yeah I agree with this, I love the FansToys but that XTB was a good contender. Awesome VS sir lol. 🫡
Well done sir lol. I thought the same thing, XTB is more on the money but do prefer FansToys. 👍🏽🫡🫡
