Like every big city, it has issues, but the people, the places, the FOOD, and the goodwill always draws me home. Just remember, if you're a good 'un the city will be good to you. The hole in the wall restaurants can shame most upscale restaurants in many cities around the world. If you like Creole ( think Soul Food) and Cajun food, Louisiana has the best on earth.
If you're ever Uptown in New Orleans, try Sarita's. You will not regret it. Best Empanada you will ever taste. Home made hot sauce and salsa Everything on the menu is amazing
