Dear Roman baths, This video has several problems: 1.There is a woman trainer; Which was seen as not ladylike back then. Something about ladies haveing liquid blood. ~See: Kings and Generals: did female gladiators exist?~ Also, what kind of respectable Roman man would be found haveing a Woman trainer? Ō īnfāmiā! ~Scandalous!~ (Being dominated by a female was seen as unmanly in misogynist Roman culture) 2. The Toga; I don't know what you where implying there*. Nobody would casually wear toga's. (For it was the Roman equivelent of a tuxedo or cocktail dress. Immagine I'd make a film about England where evereybody is casually clad in bowler hats or corsettes. ) 3. The man should actually bathe BEFORE doing the exercise*. This was done for several reasons: -It would aid the circulation of heat. -It would loosen the muscles. -It would stimulate the sweat glands. -The massage given would also help. 3.There was plenty opportunity to excercise in the Gastra, (Roman fortress) before being sent to Hadrian's wall. Legionary drills where actually designed for warfare. Whereas Gym exercises where mostly done for health. 4."Welcome to your free introductory lesson ETC" What!? Did the man not pay his taxes; The Roman gym was state sponsored! But two denarii a month is a steal. (it's about the same as a haircut) 5."Thirty years of experience training soldiers" How did she manage to enlist, not once, but TWICE? First they recruited Celts, then Goths, then Franks, then Vandals. And now Women too! Honorius needs to get his act together! *= read Garett Ryan's first book
@@MACTEP_CHOB The Channel "Majorian" has an in depth look at it. Basically a combination of: Eastern Rome being better protected, weathier, and more infrastructure.
I'm sure the Roman Baths film makers were aware of the inaccuracies but decided to put this nonsense out anyway. Truly shameful on their part. How are we supposed to trust anything else they say.

Hey. Why do think West declined and the East continued to exist for almost 10 centuries ?

Women did not go to Roman gyms.
Sports were played nude at the gyms.
I wonder if gym memberships were as expensive as today.
Women did go to Roman gyms I did a video how the Romans worked out it tells you on there that women used Roman gyms too
No thanks!
