    Great routine. Found the hip dips very difficult with straight arm. Did them with bent arm on floor to start with.

    Exciting ultra. I'll never run an ultra or even a marathon, but I respect folk who do. I enjoy my other activities too much (bicycling, swimming, yoga, weight training, karate, etc) to dedicate that much time each week to running.

    Was out on track today with coach ,it’s great fun ,slow ,4:37 for 1 km x 3 sets but really enjoy it ,

    Great video and great workout suggestions... I'm one of those runners who ONLY does running, but I've been thinking about adding strength training at least once a week (for starters). My plan is to decrease my mileage on that day (so drop down to 5 or 6 miles) and then do some strength training. Again, great video! Love the creativity!!!

    I just did this and felt a lot better for it. I added a set of calf raises and a set of straight leg deadlifts for a bit of an extra leg boost. Going to keep it up daily as I can’t be bothered with heavy weights a few weeks out from a marathon and IM training

    Great video guys. I've been doing a 45 minute strength workout every week for a few years but as you say it can feel like a bit of a bind. I do feel as though it does makes a difference but after watching your session I must say I'm tempted to try it out.

    Hi Mary you will love doing an ultra. I am doing a virtual ultra over the Easter weekend with Run Zone South Africa. So you run 50k on Easter Friday 30k on the sat and 20k on the Sunday. So a 100k over the weekend. You get an awesome medal and t shirt. I am 65 years of age runner living in Zimbabwe.

    If you don't do specific strength training for running, won't that strength naturally develop purely through just running. Accepting that it will just take longer. So for someone who runs for enjoyment and not aiming at competitive races does it really matter too much.

      I don’t look at it like that. I look at it like s&c keeps me doing what I love and is therefore necessary. You could get away with just running but no, it’s not the same. Otherwise all pro’s etc would just run. They don’t do it because they’re pro’s. they do it to keep being able to train. That’s how I look at it too. I’m just an amateur but a stronger body means being able to train more consistently 😊👍🏻

    Can't wait to start using this morning routine guys! Thanks so much for this! I have also been thinking a lot lately that I have been running a bit too hard so I have decided to go with MAF training. Would you say it's a good idea?       @@BobBob-uv9fq how long did you try it for? Did you notice any pace improvement? I did one run this Monday and I went from 5:20 per km to 6:30 which was painfully slow for me but I keep reading that if you stick to it the benefits are great.

      @@solidsn2011 yes ,I never stuck to it ,so stick in ,just did not have the patience,I have changed my training regime though going for overall ,body strength,and cardio ,53 yrs at moment,and want strength going into my 60s ,I stopped being so precious about my times and just really love doing a variety of things

    Loving these vlogs and look forward to the content. I too do my mobility strength like this but its my pre-run workout. Add a few weights for squats and my bridges and banded clams. Takes about 30min but is part of my warm up for the run. I did have a sore back recently so also added some back mobility from physio to start it all of with. Great principle. I like the idea of the ultra but sadly in NZ timing might not suit unless I do it at night?

      @@ThisMessyHappy we're free right now and free to go about our business though they encourage us to scan a qr code places we go but people are slack. Masks on public transport. No community cases at all, just citizens coming back to country in quarantine for 2 weeks. So all sports are on with crowds.

    You won't believe it knees about ready I think, soon be 8 weeks since my last run but really hurt by ribs on Tuesday at work not sure if cracked a couple or pulled a muscle, I'm thinking a muscle! 🤕 lol was lifting something heavy up high with someone and something went like pop in my left side of my ribs and since then it's been painful even going up thr stairs lol

    Hey Ben, I have been following you since very long time. Really appreciate your work. I have to prepare for 1 mile race till end of upcoming April. Should I do a practice mile on daily basis or thrice a week ? Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

    One more comment which I always wonder. How does one build on from these type of workouts in a structured way much like a 12 week run program? Adding weights and times but to what point and do you start from scratch again in the next training block?

      I’m actually a strong believer that you don’t necessarily need to build things like this. Consistency is key and you could tweak a few of the movements but no need to build them really

    Question, Ive been feeling like my arms start feeling uncomfortable while I run with a 90degree angle in them, any tips to maybe stop the discomfort ?

      It might just take some time to get used to. All muscles eventually just get used to movement and if they don’t in the long term then you sure know about it! 😊
