@05RangerXLT You saw that too?! Well, it is probably going to get more grinding done to it before the powder coated gets it! Powder may fill in little divots, but those are huge in comparison to powder coating material!!! Mr. Monkey, I love ya, but as the man said grinder and paint,………….!!!
Awesome job man! I’ve always loved the old school choppers. Maybe one day when I get a few other projects done I’ll have to try my hand at a build like what you are doing. Keep up the good work!
You're letting me down by not polishing the welds. You need to start with 100 Grit and work your way up to 1000 Grit or you ain't a REAL bike builder. Start now and you can have the bike ready for Smokeout 2026.
I absolutely admire the fact that you take on tasks that are outside your comfort level when most of us would simply tell the wife “I know it’s expensive but WE have to pay a professional to do this… it is for our SAFETY!!! “. LOL😂
You can't build a side mount plate/tail light bracket to heavy duty. Mine lasted 15 years, cracked on the welds. I had a expert fabricator, make one out of 1 piece of steel. All custom bent, zero welds. He's got a million dollar shop, though.
12:21 the thumbnail popped up for last Friday's House Party. LMAO - Your livestream went for 4 hours and 45 minutes!!! NICE!!!! It was a great time for the portion I was in the chat.
Things are gonna change around here. Last time I said that, it didn’t go well! 👊🏻LMMAO👊🏻 well the refrigerator door shut. Your wife’s reaction was hilarious, and I have it in my next video. Thank you for explaining to Mrs. Monkey during the live stream. I felt awful when she initially thought I was making an insult.
You're too hot, reduce your wire speed and voltage. I guess your wire is Flux Cored, as I don't see a gas bottle (Argon), cut your wire short (an eighth of an inch is plenty) and keep your wire cutters handy, also a file, in case the wire gets stuck in the nozzle (by rights, this shouldn't happen, but does occasionally), Anti-Spatter spray is your friend, use it (even on the nozzle). Keep your Arc and Weld Pool small, watch the weld pool and push the nozzle slow and steadily. Practising on steel plate, rather than tin will familiarise you with laying down a bead (though if tin (sheet metal) is all you have, it's likely closer to the automotive welding you'll be doing over the years), the bead will show you if you're too fast or slow, any undercut and you're too hot, the bead sitting on top and you're too cold / fast, you want nice mellow looking lines in the bead ("u"'s rather than "V"'s- the softer the better - like this bracket ). Really, protect all the rest of the Bike from spatter, it'll stuff your tyres and polishing.. Look into getting your hands on a set of Oxy-Acetylene Bottles, as Gas Welding (and the word is *"Welding"*, not sticking, welds seldom brake without a reason) is the best way to learn (forming and controlling a Weld Pool, whilst feeding in the Filler Rod, one Bead at a time..), it's also versatile.. ..and you'll get to learn about controlling heat distortion and all sorts of fun stuff 😅😂🤣. Consider doing a Welding Coarse, even if only an evening class, it's a great skill to have and you're obviously keen.
@@ProfessionalMonkey No worries, everyday's a school day for everyone, we should all be learning from everything around us (and I was only to eager to vent my spleen the other day it seems.. 😄😆😅😂🤣🤣 - sorry.) One thing I neglected to mention was Three Phase Electricity (or whatever equivalent you have in Florida), if that small M.I.G. knocks your circuit breakers / trips your fuse box, then having something a little more business like in your garage / workshop is a good idea. Your going great guns of course, I'm stoked following your build, you're really taking it on, Kudos.
It takes both sides. It has always been my dream to build a bike, truly from scratch. I am a metal fabricator, but i dont know SHIT about mechanics!! I could make something pretty, but someone else will have to turn it into a vehicle.
0:12 Safety First - Every garage workshop should start out with a 5 pound ABC fire extinguisher. Now that you are welding in there, trade in the 5 pounder for a 10 pounder.
You prove to me I need to invest in an electrician and a nice quality 240 volt outlet…bought a forney easy weld…the slag is unreal…not knocking ya at all it’s what ya got…just gonna need to step up my game if ima weld!!!
@@ProfessionalMonkey G Clamp, C Clamps are made of Aluminium and break easily (because they're meant for holding wood) though a Brake Compressor will maybe be better, even a knocking stick that's kind to the bushing will be just as good I expect (a tool box with a short length of brass bar to use as a drift is golden). It's called an Interference Fit.
Way to go Monk! I started welding with my Dad when I was a wee one and got pretty good at it over the years. The key to welding is don't be afraid to screw up. Grinders and torches can always erase your mistakes 😝.
As a welder, that was a little painful to watch 😅, but just remember....... a grinder and paint, will make a welder what he aint
I can only imagine!! HA!

No disrespect to Monkey but that's the first time I ever saw somebody wave a mig gun over a project like a Magic Wand.......🤣 Whatever works!
As a non-welder m'self, I can vouch for that!

Your wire stick out is too much. Get closer. Results will be better. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the tip
I’m only here for the welding lessons.

Any time The Husband says theirs gonna be some changes around here, What he really means is, he will be the one changing !
Tooooo much wire stick out, i think it’s called in merica. What i mean is that you have too much gap between the nozzle and the thing you’re welding.
Gotcha
My experience with powder coating is that it hides nothing, it shows every little nick and scratch. If you need to fill, primer, sand and paint.
I absolutely admire the fact that you take on tasks that are outside your comfort level when most of us would simply tell the wife “I know it’s expensive but WE have to pay a professional to do this… it is for our SAFETY!!! “. LOL😂

I’m calling @barbiethewelder to grade this work.
Please dont
Get rid of cup shield and get a thread protector. That way you can see weld puddle better. It won't let me send you a pic.
Best of luck.

Grinder and paint. Make you the welder you ain’t! Coming along great
I was told I got to be a good grinder, before I can be a good welder😅
Quick tip with Flux core pre heat the metal before welding cuts down on the splatter and helps the metal pool for better bead
Thank you!!!! I appreciate it!
You know the secret to making welds that dont look like a bird flew over and took a crap? Me neither!
If you want to make your welds to look good, use a flap disc instead of a grinder.
Okay put down the welder and back away slowly 😅
😂😂
4:15 We who eat well, need larger supports for our hardware?
Looking good now how long did your wife laugh at you
i think your welder was having a panic attack just then kidding or am I 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That looks like it actually belongs there because of the professional welding job!
I am enjoying the progress
Monk...I'm totally digging on the brass accents . Really anticipating what your bike is gonna look like after powder process .
Yeah, that’s what she usually do but I love your content. You do a good job.
You need a baking cabinet. ..
I'm glad you said the wife laughs at that statement because I laughed out loud😅
Has anyone checked on you? You actually filmed the "work" you okay?😂
😂😂😂😂😂

You got that right!
Dude I will be quite honest. That welding job looks great.👍👍👍
Check the Vector Victor
Is there like a lot more gray in your beard? I mean like serious amounts more.
Is there?
I’d like to know exactly what she responded to that text 😂
We can hear that text from here.....lololol

What bike lift are you using?
J&S but they’re out of business.

Hey monkey could you do a Roag king build. Just got a road king. Looking for ideas . Not alot a people building road kings
I’d like to. It’s all the same from the steering neck back!

You should use a C-Clamp to install the bushings. Love the show.
Good idea

Can we talk about that stinger?!?! Still better than my welds.

Lots of practice !!!

One of the best generations

Nice job!
