RSX Type-S Interior Update & First OEM+ Mods | Acura Build!

- In today's video, The Acura RSX DC5 Build gets some tasteful OEM+ modifications for the interior. Thus making this old Honda more fun to drive! Starting with a rundown of the double din Pioneer Head Unit (with Apple Car Play) and Type R Hazard Button. Then we install the new OEM Shift boot Console and Hybrid Racing Maxim Shift boot collar with a K-Tuned weighted knob. Enjoy!
In my opinion, I love the simplistic and driver focused interior of the Acura RSX (Honda Integra). However, I do enjoy listening to music when I'm not cracking mad amounts of VTEC. Unfortunately I lost (most) of the footage on the double din stereo install on the RSX. BUMMER! But I still wanted to give you a rundown and brief review of the new to me Pioneer 1500NEX and Type R Hazard button. The new unit utilizes the stock amp and subwoofer and REALLY wakes things up. I was amazed with how good this car sounded.
With the interior of the RSX looking better, the one thing that stood out was the hideous shift boot. Fortunately, I had a NEW Acura OEM Center Console boot cover that came with the car. So I figured this would be a good time to upgrade my shift knob and install the Hybrid Racing Universal Shift boot collar so I didn't have any shift boot sag. Install is easy, so it was just a matter of figuring out what shift knob I want to run. The Raceseng titanium knob didn't fit well with the new setup, so K-tuned knob it is for now!
Overall, I love how the interior is looking and feeling. Much of this little stuff ads up. Eventually things will get crazier with a new shifter setup, wheel setup, and seats, but I'm enjoying it for what it is.

I’ve had an RSX-S since 2013, was my first car. I haven’t appreciated it much but I just got a paint correction and ceramic coating and I’ve completely refound my passion for it. Your videos are inspiring me keep it up

I finally made my ek hatch runs! Imma na return my rental today after a horrible accident i had Oct.24th. But the good news is, its a write off guys!!! Been waitin for this moment for so long I aint hv car payments no more!!! Freakin ecstatic even tho 3-6monts of therapy for my head concussion, ptsd, back and neck injury. Did AlldayAnthony my project/daily ek hatch for few weeks now.

The shift knob at the moment looks awesome, also several months back I picked up the little console air freshener, melon scent for my 96 Civic coupe the type you have in your Civic. Always look forward to your Honda/Acura content.
I also have that skunk 2 shift it came with my prelude I had at the time. Sadly my brother totaled the car but I kept the shifter
I think you could get a high durometer rubber gasket/washer, put it in the hole in the shift knob, and that will give you some adjustment of the rotation of the knob while keeping it tight (because you can squish the rubber a little bit).
If it were me in your shoes, I'd go with the silver knob.
It looks different from stock but not too flashy to be a needle in the eye ball.
Until i'd stumble over a Type-R knob but let's be honest, When you stumble into one, You'll be on it XD
GRAB A 17MM wrench and turn the metal part that the boot attaches too and tighten it just enough to where you can get that ktuned logo to line up the way you want it! i have the same boot collar and you can turn it just a bit more with the wrench and play with it til you can get it right. i hope you see this lol

Wifey gifted me the four star dragon ball shift knob, definitely recommend as im still rolling with it 6 years later.

I have a spoon shift knob in my s2000 and I absolutely love it! That be my suggestion
I went with the Acuity Poco low profile knob in my EK. Screws on a touch lower than most knobs and it's a clean, matte black, ball shaped knob that's very affordable.

I've got the Hybrid Racing Maxim knob. Has a solid weight to it and may be selling it and switching to the new HR race knob built into the shaft for the short shifter
People,never talk about the offset steering wheel set to the left of the driver so the left hand can comfortably control the wheel while the right hand rests on the shifter. Awesome for carving up curves
When I got my car the center console was leather wrapped and I think it looks pretty good. Also came with the same skunk 2 shift knob you have.

idk if anyone else has suggested it but i think the fd2 type r shift knob would be great! It's round and it very similar in style to the stock dc5 shift knob

Anthony!... The RSX optional Aluminum 6-speed knob kit is still available and it's only $37 at AllDiscountParts. Part# is 08u92-s6m-200b. I have this in my 05 TL and it has an amazing machined satin finish that feels like soft lady parts. Almost identical size/shape to the old DC2/EK9 Type-R titanium knob (with a better feeling in the hand). But If you really like spherical knobs, then get a Mugen machined alloy shift knob. It's larger than the RSX aluminum knob, and has a kinda holographic mirror diamond cut surface that looks amazing in person (I have the similar Mugen-Fit 5-speed version in my EG). The markings are laser etched (smooth but permeant) and it feels fantastic as well. Part# is 54102-xlt-k4s0-gs but cost almost $100 more from KingMotorsports.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet or not, but you can use the part that the shift boot collar attaches to, to set where the shift knob stops by screwing it up or down on the threads of the shifter. I know this because I have the same shift boot collar in my 99 civic coupe

There’s a nice oem silver type s shift knob that was optional and sometimes you can still find it online through honda/acura oem websites. I went with the hybrid racing titanium shift knob for mine 🔥

U can actually adjust the shift knob by adjusting the metal thingy to centre ur shift knob logo. Try it, cos i have the same shift boot collar and i adjust my mugen knob to be centred by adjusting the metal thingy

Gas and dead pedal are discontinued. Also on the stock shift box lighter knobs help it last much longer.
I use to own a FB6 and I bought it with a Skunk2 weighted shift knob. I was quick to replace it because the heat AND cold in the south. I dislike metal shift knobs for that reason. Looks clean though

I have the hybrid racing maxim performance knob on my rsx and it feels really good definitely my most favorite knob I've had. I had the skunk2 weighted for a while and I thought that one was too heavy. The hybrid one is just perfect for me

FD2 Civic Type R knob 6 speed ball is basically like an s2000 knob with red inset lettering.
Bruh the stainless ktuned shifter looks so fire though, BTW a nice 3 way component speaker system is prefect for this car, as it already has one, pair one with a nice amp and it'll be unreal trust me.
I personally really like the s2000 OEM shift knob.

Don’t remember what it is but Momo has a really nice weighted ball shift knob I’ve been in love with since I’ve had it in my Prelude
You can get a wireless apple carplay adapter you plug into the usb port. I got mine off amazon, there is some "lag" but for $100 it's worth not having to deal with any wires.

Check out the 2022 Si knob. Its a very nice oem knob. Its a very mildly elongated "ball" and has a nice weight
Its very similar in shape/feel to the 8th gen si or s2000 but with the modern font of a 10th gen si.
I have one in my 9th gen si paired with the same collar as you and its a very nice compliment to the interior, most wouldnt be the wiser its not factory to that car
For the car play in my 02 I bought one of the dual usb port things on ebay for like 10 dollars. Then removed my stock 12v port and installed it there. Looks stock and if I don't have my phone plugged up it don't leave a wire hanging out in my car
I’ve got the Trust GREX round shift knob on my Evo. Perfect size and weight. I’ve tried so many other knobs but i keep going back to it lol

I'm in love. I think you should keep the shift knob black round and the numbers red that will look cool I think overall the car is looking gorgeous. But it will look more gorgeous and sexy if you pick me up and you give me a ride in that beautiful Acura just kidding laugh out loud.
Look for a thing call AAwireless, it can make your carplay go wireless, been using it for a year, no problem at all, the downside of it is it cost a bit and slow on shipping.

I went the Acuity shifter paired with a black hybrid racing shift knob and it feels great! Very oem+ too BUT I do like the spherical knobs like the type r one or js racing one. Mugen carbon fiber one maybe?? It’s a little loud if the interior isn’t there to match it but it’s an option!

thats weird. I was able to just hookup the amp turn on for the bose stuff to work. I didnt need to buy a box.
Man if clubrsx was still around, they offered a weighted ball type knob in black and in brass. They were limited to 1000 each. You could try and find one of those. I have a black clubrsx knob #126 😁 had it since 2009.

If you back that screw up to the shift knob it will lock it in place and you can center the shift pattern, its a 12 mil if I remember right

Sup dude! Hey use the magnetic collar to align the knob, kind of like the bolt/knob method for like skunk 2 etc.
I realized this idea after it was all said and done lol. Just cinch the two together, duh. Haha

You talk about the blue box, I’m confused on what would I look up to get that piece?
It’s called Scosche line output converter. I’m still trying to figure out what harness he used with it. I’m assuming he used the Metra 70-1721 and not the 70-1725 because I didn’t see any RCA ends.
