@ToshisGarden bingo, I'm so tired of modern day Disney trying to be something they aren't just to push merch and sales. The best rides were made because they put money into people who could actually tell unique stories and thus attractions became IP's. At this rate Disney is going to run out of the same material they are tryong to jam down people's throats.

Classic neutral-themed attractions like World Showcase, Mission Space, RnRC, & Haunted Mansion are the meat of what keeps me coming back to Disney despite their recent shortcomings. They’re just not going to win the IP arms race against Universal. Not when they’re up against Harry Potter, Mario, Monsters, and possibly also Pokémon, Zelda, & LOTR.
Just got back from Japan,...retheme the Tower of Terror to Joe Rhode's "Harrison Hightower" theme that Japan uses. Their "Tower of Terror" is frigging COOL and it's the BEST themed tower drop ride they have ever made. Joe Rhode did an awesome job!
I recently got back from Japan too, and the Disneysea version of Tower of Terror is awesome! If they're going to drop the Twilight Zone theming at Hollywood Studios, at least make it fit the Society of Explorers theme. We already have a Guardians themed ride at WDW.
It's sad to see Disney in the state it's currently in. Up until the age of Iger, the parks were the cream of the crop in terms of originally-themed attractions and quality themed entertainment. Now, they're just treated as soulless advertisements for their most popular franchises with minimal attempts at intricate theming. Someone needs to make Disney return to original theming for their parks, since that's what made their parks distinct and memorable in their own way. The parks were simply not designed to be themed as advertisements. Compare this to how the Oriental Land Company handles their 2 Disney parks, it's like a night and day difference, and I prefer how they utilize the themes of their attractions.
I wouldn't say that Iger was the end of creativity. Honestly that started to die off under Eisner with the clones of rides to be cost effective or fewer original idea attractions. I think the last was Expedition Everest which honestly was an Eisner era idea. Before that, Mission: Space and before that, you would have to go back to Alien Encounter as a non-IP ride. Let that sink in. The last three non-IP rides all had issues. I love non-IP rides but sadly those that love those are in the minority of the Disney Parks goers.
@michaelking761 I also agree that the end of Eisner's career at Disney was not the greatest due to budget cuts and poor execution of ideas. For example, the original California Adventure was a theme park that was meant to be themed around the greatness of California but was poorly executed due to budget cuts being made by Disney at the time, really holding it back from being a park that could have benefitted from having a unique theme. Poseidon Entertainment made a very good video about the wasted potential of California Adventure and what it could have entailed if Disney took more time to commit to that project.
@EliGray-jj9bx Disney needs a CEO that actually cares about creativity when it comes to attraction and land design and not use said attractions as subliminal advertisements for services like Disney+. Look at how Disney ruined the original optimistic morals and overall theme of EPCOT in favor of being a wall of advertisements for popular series. The park was CLEARLY not designed to be an expensive advertisement. If I wanted that, I could just stick to watching Disney+ content on TV. What I'm saying is that unique ideas and original creations with intent are what made the parks feel distinct from one another. We must FIGHT for original attractions to return!!
I agree that changing the exterior would have bigger impact for the resort as a whole, but I also agree that the Disney Co. doesn't seem to care lately. I can't ride Rock n Roller Coaster or Tower of Terror so a change doesn't affect me, but I get people not wanting them to be Muppet theme. Dropping the "Twilight Zone" name and creating a similarly spooky but unique theme storyline is the best option if they chose to not continue with the Paramount/CBS/Skyline contract for the IP.
After the announcement of the destruction of Frontierland/Liberty Square by replacing the ROA water with CARS, I just don't care anymore. As a former CP and Disney Cast Member, I lived at WDW for about 6 years. I have no desire to ever go back at this point. They are just sticking random IP's here and there with no master plan. I never liked the "movie studios" copy of Universal Studios, but they could have kept the focus on animation studio. They should just call it Disney Adventure World or something because Star Wars and Marvel have nothing to do with animation or Disney really. Buying an IP doesn't really make it a Disney IP. Disney was mostly animation, and the few real movies Disney made have been removed, or are being removed and replaced with new IP. Instead of expanding, they just teardown iconic attractions and replace them. I understand some of the older rides or shows don't have huge lines, but why not base your pricing on ride popularity like was done in the very beginning? Now with technology, not only would it be easy to sell an entrance ticket, and then offer various ride packages, or pay-per-ride, they could even move to dynamic pricing of rides. But I really don't care anymore. They can do whatever. There are better Disney Parks around the world, so I'd rather go to them instead of WDW.

Disney shouldn’t get rid of Tower of Terror. It’s famous and beloved. Like the Haunted Mansion, it can be a great ride without even having anything to do with Disney films (even if it has had a couple of film adaptations). My parents went to America and went on the ride, and still remember it to this day.
I know it's not necessarily a property they own, but I'm pretty sure they could work out something to Sony, who they already deal with for Spider-man, but GOOSEBUMPS would be a pretty solid fit. Kinda like what you were saying just drop the Twilight Zone and have it be Goosebumps Tower of Terror. Keep the same look and vibe, but add classic artifacts from the stories in the lobby of the hotel. They could even involve Slappy as the one taking over the elevator and moving it around. With Disney+ running the second season of the show, they have the connection and know it has some kind of following.
I know they would never do it, but they could retheme it to American Horror Story. That show had a Hotel season. And it's a Fox show... But way too mature for Disney...
I'd love to see the Cars theater rethemed to Muppet Vision 3D, I'm sure they could even fit a PizzaRizzo over there too - but I'm with you for Tower of Terror - please no Muppets there! I love the idea of removing Twilight Zone and just calling it Tower Of Terror, and if they update it to a new story I like the idea of projection mapping and having temporary re-themes like they do with Space Mountain at Disneyland!
Luckily I doubt they will replace it seeing as popular as it is. They don't want to MAKE any new original rides, but that doesn't mean they're going to get rid of it. Think of The Haunted Mansion: they will never get rid of that, despite the fact it's an original idea, because it brings a vast amount of people to the parks. The Tower of Terror is so insanely popular and literally brings people to Hollywood, that I don't think they'll touch it.
This would be one of the worst decisions ever made by a big company. Tower of Terror fits in so well with the feel of Hollywood Studios, the architecture goes hand in hand. If they think competing with Epic Universe is by changing your most beloved and iconic ride, the need to think again. Shows how out of touch they are with the fans!
To be honest, a Muppet land would be awesome, plus the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction in Disneyland is awesome, it's way better than Tower of Terror.
They may change the tower of terror but i don't honestly think they will remove the Hollywood Tower Hotel cause of its estectic on the block. It might become just the same ride with no "twilight zone" or some variation ride in the same building
Disney just keeps giving us more reasons to spend less time there and more at Universal. Why would you redo rockin rollerocaster to a muppets theme? I love the guardians of the galaxy and in no way want them taking over tower of terror.
We have combined household income of like $60,000 and I don’t know how we’d ever afford a trip like that without sacrificing every nicety we have 🤷🏻♀️ If we ever move up the brackets maybe I will daydream of this. However…is it even in English? Lol!! Let’s just stop them from destroying everything we love instead! 😂😂
there’s no way they can theme that to guardians of the Galaxy because there is no marvel in Hollywood Studios and we need to keep it that way. I am so sick of them putting the same IP’s in every park, these parks have literally no identity anymore. Marvel does not fit at Epcot either, but they’ve already started it so now that’s where marvel needs to go
I've been to DisneyWorld over 30 times over the yrs and that Stupid Rock N Coaster NEVER worked when I went. Always closed for repairs or under refurbishment. So I say good riddance.
Personally I love the muppets and was very upset with the closing of muppet courtyard so I'm very excited for the muppets taking over rocking roller coaster and area.
Monsters Inc. land is going to be a massive hit. I just hope that they leave plenty of room for expansion of that land because it will be needed in the future.
A retheme to remove all the twilight references is a better idea. A ghost hunter kind of retheme could happen. I imagine there's going to be a documentary kind of video in the preshow. I also think they could do different versions of the ride like in paris
One thing they could do (although I don't think they will) is switch the story to the same one Tokyo has. You see, "Twilight Zone" isn't well known in Japan, so they came up with a different story that is completely original to that version. It uses the same mechanics as California and Paris, but tells the story of a real estate mogul who stole a cursed South American idol. The story isn't tied to any IP, so Disney can use it all they want, but since they seem to want to use their own IPs even when an original story might be better, this seems unlikely.
My only issue with all these changes is whoever runs Disney Construction should be fired. zthey take Forever to build anything and it never meets expectations. With all of these changes happening at once it won't be worth going to Disney for the next few yrs.
The story of Tower of Terror is a Disney IP based on the TV Movie with Steve Gutenberg from 1997. So they could keep the story and remove Twilight Zone aspects. Or they could do Tokyo’s version.
They might as well completely remove the TCL Chinese Theatre exterior and change the name of the park because non of it screams Hollywood to me these days.
I have a feeling that they'll retheme it to Doctor Strange in some way, since that's the only other Marvel related IP that Disney can use in Disney World. I don't WANT it too, I think the Twilight Zone theming is way too awesome, but knowing Disney, wouldn't be surprised.
I dunno... They pay basically nothing to use the Twilight Zone name and I don't think they're really eliminating IPs they don't own. They are building a new Avatar Land in CA and they Don't own Avatar. They have to pay Cameron ALOT for that license.
This channel has been ahead of the curve and what’s announced. Just speaking from experience watching. Might not be announced yet. But something is coming
Need MORE Muppets, not less… they are rich with potential, if Disney would just do right by them. However, I don’t think that Tower should have a Muppets theme.. They’re an IP that is kid-friendly, and certainly don’t need yet another thrill ride, (in addition to R&R Coaster). They need to have at least one more attraction that’s kid-centered. (And also put MuppetVision into that Racing Academy theater after the Villains have their stint).
All Disney would have to do is drop the Twilite Zone reference without adding a Disney IP reference to it. The movie starring Steve Gutenberg does not reference Twilite Zone and it is just fine.
Howdy! You may be right though there are a few things you missed which counters your argument. First, Tower of Terror in Disneyland, yes it was re-themed. The thing is it was smack dab in the middle of where Marvel land was going so it would not fit and therefor it was re-themed to a Marvel property. As for Aerosmith, there are a few things here. First Aerosmith is retiring which has made them less relevant to the target audience of Disney than they already are. Second Steven Tyler has been dealing with a fair amount of S...exual A....sault charges so disney may want to get away from that especially considering they pay Aerosmith to use their name and likeness. Making Tower of Terror the Guardians ride just wouldn't make sense as you mentioned for this area of the park though you're right, they may not care anymore. As for Disney World using Marvel properties, they can use ANY marvel property not represented in Universal. So, no Xmen, Avengers, Spiderman, Hulk. Anything past that is game on and if Universal gives up on any of their marvel rides the rights would revert to Disney, this is why Universal keeps Storm force even though it's a horrible tea cup right, they have to to represent each property.
I'm old enough that I've been going to WDW since around 74 as a kid. It's long time been my favorite park and my daughter is a big fan. As of the last year I've been going to other parks and Disney's been sliding back ward due to some of the decisions they've made. I'm looking forward to Epic Universe opening.
It’s really hard to think of what will replace Twilight Tower of Terror! It’s a iconic landmark when you head in to Studios! I can see a Indiana Jones themed ride like how there doing in AK.
Aerosmith had their run... their contract with Disney is up and they're no longer touring, so there's no reason to have a rollercoaster rushing you to their concert when they're not doing concerts... it breaks the visual and story. This was a good move on their part especially since there was an Electric Mayhem series on Disney+ recently and they've always been relevant... their story was that they were getting back into producing an album. I think the change is for the best.
11:51 please NO! It needs to stay tower of terror,if it has to get a muppets overlay to stay that then I’d rather have muppets then nothing or guardians
Not impressed with what the un talented Disney people are doing to the parks. The retheming and sometimes destruction of iconic rides is a shame. Tiana's adventure is an example of this. The ride is often broken. Not impressed disney
Disney owns the Simpson and Universal Studios have already been announced that they would be closing Springfield soon.. so I understand why Disney has to get rid of Twilight Zone .. Disney does not own Twilight..
I agree that stripping the Twilight Zone IP from it and just make it "Hollywood Tower of Terror" as a legendary California Urban Legend type ghost story thing would be best. Changing the exterior themeing would ruin Sunset Boulevard *and* by proxy the Morocco sight-lines so it affects two parks. That said, I think there is a world where a Muppet re-theme _could_ be made to work if they leave the outside alone and do it as a parody of the old version 'under new management' like The Muppets were kicked out of their old theater so they bought this creepy old hotel on the other side of the park "because the droids were too much competition" for cheap but everything goes wrong because of the Hollywood Tower's legendary curse and they *swear* everything has been repaired, but havoc ensues anyway. It's not optimal, but if they're _going_ to change the IP that's what I'd want - basically a Muppet overlay with no architectural changes similar to Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Most of my favorite things in disney parks are the things that aren't "disney" themed. It's sad they are so opposed to originality these days...
I agree, but if you go back far enough, many of those type of things are based on older Disney Movies or nature series etc.

@@td3053 what part of Disney is for KIDS people like you DON’T get? Of course you are tired of Disney! It’s NOT meant for ADULTS! Either accept that and shut up or leave. I’m tired of entitled ADULTS constantly whining and complaining about a Company that targets KIDS not being for them.
Disney owns the story of the 5 guests. They might just remove all twilight zone references and keep the story of the 5 passengers
Good point! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
He was also in charge of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom
@@RonanBunny - Joe Rhode was in charge of the entire Animal Kingdom park. It's his park. Joe Rhode has built a LOT of Disney attractions in his life.
Bob Iger better be out soon. I swear, I cannot stand that man’s choices.
Where does this guy even get his source information from?
That's what I'd like to know.
If the Title of the attraction is shortened, how would the 5th Dimension room be altered?
🤣🤷🏽♂️

Ha! That would be something! 😱
My take, it will stay Tower of Terror, with Twilight Zone removed. They have Vincent Price voice for the old fireworks show....they could use that.
They will retheme it to Tokyo’s version I mean there’s a painting in Adventureland.
Aerosmith being replaced by Muppets is hardly a tragedy.
Nooooooooooooooooooo no those idiots! Can we picket? Can we throw things at them? Everyone STOP GOING UNTIL THEY FIX THIS. We can’t roll over to this
Go to Disneylands, espeically in Tokyo. Tokyo Disney parks are by far the best, and make WDW look like a mobile trailer.
Yeah it’s a shame - it really needed some updates badly! 👍🏼
But it's not going away, it's just being rethemed. The exact same underlying ride will still be there.
It didn't work as a theme either. It should be replaced with Monster's Inc instead of Muppet 3D area.
I definitely see how a majority of people wouldn’t want a muppet land, but I sure do 😂 do not want Tower of Terror to be rethemed though
Yeah I could definitely be wrong about the popularity of Muppets! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
A retheme to remove all the twilight references is a better idea. A ghost hunter kind of retheme could happen. I imagine there's going to be a documentary kind of video in the preshow. I also think they could do different versions of the ride like in paris
Exactly - given they have already done something similar in Tokyo it’s a good bet that will he their direction 🤞🏼
Yes! It’s insane! They need to move way faster! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Tower could be re-themed to a tie-in to haunted mansion and add to the existing ride.
The story of Tower of Terror is a Disney IP based on the TV Movie with Steve Gutenberg from 1997. So they could keep the story and remove Twilight Zone aspects. Or they could do Tokyo’s version.
I think you should wait to make a video like this once they actually announce it.
There goes all chances of me ever visiting Disney World
I like your channel, but you’re better than clickbait
I like Mission breakout more than Tower of Terror because its more intense and has an incredible vibe with the music
Why didn’t Disney build a separate area for Avenger’s like they did with Galaxy Edge?
They should have added a 5th park for the non-Disney bought IP's. There doesn't seem to be any plan, short-term or long-term for the parks' themings.
They cant get rid of Tower of Terror, i feel that is a staple in Hollywood Studios in the disney parks.
I think a Muppets re theme could work with this, theres more people out there that love the Muppets than you realise 😊
Let’s be honest a lot of people want a muppets land bro
They might as well completely remove the TCL Chinese Theatre exterior and change the name of the park because non of it screams Hollywood to me these days.
I have a feeling that they'll retheme it to Doctor Strange in some way, since that's the only other Marvel related IP that Disney can use in Disney World. I don't WANT it too, I think the Twilight Zone theming is way too awesome, but knowing Disney, wouldn't be surprised.
Let's see how badly Disney screws this up as all... 😮
So there is no actual news here. Just you assuming that because other things changed, thgis has to change as well. Thanks for wasting my time.
I dunno... They pay basically nothing to use the Twilight Zone name and I don't think they're really eliminating IPs they don't own. They are building a new Avatar Land in CA and they Don't own Avatar. They have to pay Cameron ALOT for that license.
They can turn tower of terror into a doctor strange multiverse ride
I hope your wrong. Just discussing this is likely to give Disney the idea to ditch it.
Would much rather have a muppets rendition of the tower of terror then guardians. They can have aerosmith.
Fake news. This has not been announced or even speculated with any real expectation.
This channel has been ahead of the curve and what’s announced. Just speaking from experience watching. Might not be announced yet. But something is coming
What did it deliver for them? lower attendance??? Epic Universe is gonna crush them so hard
Dropping the twilight zone part and calling it the Hollywood Tower of Terror is what it is now!
Nooooooooo! It really is a classic!
Yes muppets does have the pull!!!! Bring on a muppets land
My bet is that they’ll replace it with Guardians of the Galaxy.
All Disney would have to do is drop the Twilite Zone reference without adding a Disney IP reference to it. The movie starring Steve Gutenberg does not reference Twilite Zone and it is just fine.
It will be a sad day when they changed Starship Earth.
I really don't want Mission Breakout because it lacks quality in thrill
yea i’m not going back, hello age of Universal, if they bring Jaws backs it’s legit GG’s for disney
Doctor Strange
You could use a different IP - they own the X-Files IP and Poltergeist - I feel you could create a good story around either one of these
I still expect Comcast to make a play for WBD. Doing that will give Universal the rights to Potter (still paying JKR of course).
OK, that’s it. I just give up on Disney. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Japan has the same ride and it isn't based on Twilight Zone
Aerosmith had their run... their contract with Disney is up and they're no longer touring, so there's no reason to have a rollercoaster rushing you to their concert when they're not doing concerts... it breaks the visual and story. This was a good move on their part especially since there was an Electric Mayhem series on Disney+ recently and they've always been relevant... their story was that they were getting back into producing an album. I think the change is for the best.
They were hasbeens when the thing opened. Nobody could figure why they picked them. It was a bad decision from the start.
if they retheme they should do the Tokyo version
Ugghh was dreading this. God please no muppets
My daughter is going to lose her sh!$ if they take out tower of terror
Clickbait
Disney is toast.
I'm not happy about the change! uhg. One more thing to make me question visiting the parks.
Yeah, seems like a lot of the decisions Disney has made recently haven’t been the greatest! 😢
They need to change it to suite life of Zack and Cody 😤😤😤 turn it to the Tipton
11:51 please NO! It needs to stay tower of terror,if it has to get a muppets overlay to stay that then I’d rather have muppets then nothing or guardians
What If? A Villians Tower of terror ! 🤩
Yzma: Pull the lever Kronk!" "Wrong lever Kronk"
Too childisch i think
Not impressed with what the un talented Disney people are doing to the parks. The retheming and sometimes destruction of iconic rides is a shame. Tiana's adventure is an example of this. The ride is often broken. Not impressed disney
Disney owns the Simpson and Universal Studios have already been announced that they would be closing Springfield soon.. so I understand why Disney has to get rid of Twilight Zone .. Disney does not own Twilight..
That is the best themed ride in Orlando. (tower of terror)
Haha yeah that could work! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
