- This week’s cover song: ‘These Days’ by Nico, as requested. This song is perhaps her most famous song and is featured on her classic 1967 album ‘Chelsea Girl’. She was the first to record it but didn’t actually write it. It was written by the then 16-year-old Jackson Browne. Yes, you read that correct; a 16-year-old wrote this song. Browne also played the guitar on this track. Apparently, Nico wanted more of a rock sound to this song but the producer, Tom Wilson, added flute and strings to the track against Nico’s wishes (he was a great producer but that really is not good). Nico has said since that she couldn’t listen to this album because she hated the flutes featured on it which is a shame. I hope you enjoy my minimal production cover. I had to record this one at night and I tried to create a cool atmosphere with the lighting but it seems to have made the video a bit grainy, I hope it’s not too annoying.

Totally agree, some great songs have been ruined by bad producers honestly. I personally like the production on These Days but how utterly unprofessional to change her vision of the song. But who knows, maybe it wouldn't have done so well if it was heaver. But still, not good to ignore what she wanted. And aww thanks so much! I like producing but I'm not very knowledgeable at making it clean and neat, I usually have some unwanted distortion etc haha 😆😆💗❤💕
@@RosaLavenne Then there are those times that the producers actually "make " the sound happen...I love it that we can listen to the original Bob Marley tracks (very spare) and compare them to the "produced" tracks half the world loves and cherishes so! A great example of Producers "polishing" the groove🔥🔥
