    wow !! One of the best Dusty klips on YT !! Just shows how versatile she could be-one doesn't really think of DS as a jazz singer- but she sure was here. Plus, she
    seemed to be really enjoying herself in a way that you don't often see in the vintage clips. Just BRIlliant !! And what a great tune! Excellent lyric.

    Flea markets are good for finding some things xrayqqq, but i think you'll find that the originals wont have the bonus tracks that were added to many of her later re-release CD's, they did this because one or two albums were not released so they added those tracks to later albums/compilations. Don't miss out, always check the internet!

    Another BRILLIANT side to Dusty's musical personality;she was a musical chameleon who could sing excellently in almost all genres of music,and I could imagine her singing some classical pieces as well,eg,"Songs from the Auvergne" etc.However I think that because of her encyclopaedic and instinctve command of music she could never fit or be fitted into one particular cache which I think caused her much frustration ,and,maybe disappointment particularly as she got older.This song and others similar that she sang, prove that she could have become one of the greatest jazz singers of all time,but she could have been a great musical star as her versions of Bacharach and David's "Knowing When to Leave","Wives and Lovers"etc.etc .are right at the top of any interpretation;Dusty was just plainly a musical phenomenon,I only wished that she had not had such a tortured personal life for her sake as it obviously caused her tremendous psycological injury resulting in her disappearing from the music world for years especially when she would have been at her vocal peak.Fortunately we are blessed with many beautiful recordings and films of her:There will never be another Dustyl

    • @gayle5967
      @gayle5967 Рік тому +1

      Well said. She was a singular, incomparable gift to music. She could sing everything, and should've been more popular and had Grammys every year. Her time away would've been less sad, if she had truly found peace and lifelong love during that time.... Unfortunately it brought her a lot of pain and struggling with addiction instead. She left us far too soon. I'd certainly choose personal happiness for her and a lifelong love relationship over 1000 more Dusty songs if she were still here. She deserved that happy ending.

    @AaronWallace - Diana WHO?
    I know you mean Krall, but really. This was 40 years earlier, & a one-off live performance by someone usually classified as a pop or soul singer. Diana is a jazz singer (not pop or soul), recorded this for an album & has performed it live multiple times. Not to mention this fabulous take was done in between an Aretha song and a French epic ballad, without a break in between!!! The point is, Dusty was so versatile she could do ANYTHING phenomenally. She has no equal.

    • @planegaper
      @planegaper 3 роки тому +1

      She could have made her career out of any Genre, she just performed a song in a completely different Genre, very well in fact, and went strait into a Jazz piece and sold it.. no break, practice.. getting her voice ready..
      I digg Krall's style, effortless, whimsical.. but Dusty's version in my mind is better.. power when she needs it, no gimmicks, and still captures that almost Cavalier contempt Jazz singers have for their songs, like it's not really work, just talking about the way I feel right now.. tough to explain, Krall has it in spades, Dusty , simply had a better voice and more tools than anyone. I've never seen anyone master as many styles as her, her sound is almost angelic at times.
      I don't know where she gets that control, it's when a boatload of natural talent, meets an amazing work ethic ( couldn't walk an chew gum, but once one stage it was obsessive perfection), bloody promoters nightmare, gotta have a big band, a grand piano, a gospel choir, backup singers, a folk setup, dedicated horn section, just to cover her, lol..
      I always knew she was good, but never this good ..
