I remember when i used to play this game when i was 4-5yrs old. This Game basically was my child hood. I loved this game so much and seeing others play it brings back wholesome memories.
This, New Super Mario Bros., and Mario Kart DS were my first Mario games. I absolutely miss the DS era. Had so many fond memories playing these games at school and camp!

I agree. It is refreshing to see that there were tons of people who got to enjoy the DS version. Being the version with tons more content in it and all, I always felt like I didn't appreciate this version nearly as much as the N64 version. But I imagine it had to do with the fact that Game Cube was so good I couldn't help but focus on it's titles over my DS. The DS ended up being more or less my multiplayer machine and time killer with Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, and a few others.
I remembered playing this but I stopped playing and never beat it. I recall being scared of the music played when you interact with locked doors (was a kid back then)
People should like this one better for plenty reasons; It has 4 playable characters, Mario Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi. Along with much better graphics. However, it does have its downsides like; Wonky controls, and no BLJ.

Played this game as a 10YO and oh man flushes in so many memories. I had never been able to beat the fat yellow guy and get past that stage after playing so hard and I don't remember playing this game after that probably having lost the game card (not sure what we called those). Instant nostalgia.

Once Yoshi does collect 8 Power Stars, Yoshi can open the double doors to encounter the Goomboss King and must do it 3 times by swallowing one on the Goombas and turn into the egg and run in the opposite way to shoot the egg at the boss, repeat it two more times to defeat Goomboss King, and claim the key with an M around the circle with a red cap on it. It is to rescue Mario as Yoshi to unlock Mario. Mario now collect more Power Stars, including Cool Cool Mountain, such as Little Penguin Lost, and The Big Penguin Race (in Mario only). If Yoshi is trying to go for Big Penguin Race, then the big penguin tells Yoshi that Mario is the only character to do this challenge.
It's kind of amazing how different this game looks compared to the original, and how young me absolutely never noticed the difference playing this as a kid. The only visual mistake they made was removing Mario's peace sign whenever you get a star 😢

The differences in this version compared to the OG are the addition of Yoshi, Luigi, & Wario & Peach’s hairstyle

As a kid I loved this version (and the n64 original). Beat both of them.
