Just building infrastructure won’t help
India is worst at maintaining infra assets.
Government should focus on this matter deeply. educate people and invest in making sure people follow and obey rules and respect country’s infra assets.
Irrespective of the education Indian people are just not disciplined enough so the only way to put it to rest is by instilling fear into them by creating and implementing stong rules or laws which if broken results to hefty fines.
Unless we do that nothing will happen Indians me sabhyata khatam hogyi hai.

Tall buildings don't count as infrastructure. We need better roads, sidewalks and urban spaces in cities. Then India will bloom
India should invest 10 percent of its GDP only and only on infrastructure development.
I dont get why Pune and Ahmedabad are always called Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The government oficially have recognised Pune & Ahmedabad as Tier 1 thats why a lot of development work is underway but there's this common misconception that its not big enough or important enough.
Exactly amadavad is one of the fastest growing city.
unfortunately not in Kolkata. Bengal will soon disappear into oblivion, darkness and poverty! Sad, once a state of great impact and potential today crawling to find the litter in the dustbin! This is what the socialist/left/super-left politics has done there in last 75 years. And they have been able to brainwash once a great population to such an extent that people can't differentiate between daylight and darkness any more. Just reminds me of today's Afghanistan from 1960's. "Bengal -- India's Afghanistan" is a suitable title.

With all due to respect to these new baton bearers of India, they seem to be tone deaf and disconnected to the real India. Making a city core “world class” is going to benefit a certain section sure, here is a country where the most basic infrastructure is missing for majority of its people. What do cafes and nightlife going to contribute to middle and lower India other than create larger and larger economic gap? There is a desperate attempt to emulate other developed countries, but what they miss is the fundamentals on which those countries developed in the first place - education, healthcare, justice system and social security, to name a few.
Dude have you been reading about socialist schemes of modi providing tap water, pakka houses subsidized log, food to 800 million people in rural India. What should we do not focus on our cities and just implement same old socialist schemes like Congress huh? I do understand there need to be reform in education system and healthcare sector but everything doesn't happen in a go. After all we have adopted capitalism just about decade ago.

Please do understand that a city pays major share of taxes. It allows to create wealth and expand the GDP which then is used to fund social programs for the rest of the state and other investments.
If you don't invest heavily in cities, instead it goes for revenue expenditure ultimately the economy will start stagnating and get stuck in low growth cycle.
The whole idea of modern economy is to move maximum people from agriculture to non farm jobs, which can come from cities hence the major investments are so damm needed!
