This man is a LEGEND! I met him in Altino, near Bergamo in Italy, several years ago. I still remember shaking hands with Russell, Bob, Will and, of course, Jimmy. I said him "you don't know that, but you have been my teacher for the past twenty years". He thanked me very graciously. Legends are often VERY nice people! Thank you Jimmy and YJ for all the emotions, lessons, and GREAT music!!!!❤forever!
Master Jimmy, one of the greatest!!! Would love to have a coffee and conversation with this wonderful artist! Thank you so much for sharing this.... Greetings from teh Netherlands.
Saw him and the Yellow Jackets back in the 90s. After the concert, the meet and greet with them was amazing. To spend so much time with the fans right after the show was very personable. Jimmy was particularly kind and gracious.
Saw him several years back with Holdsworth. Every solo on every song just crushed it. This guy is a true master

Such honest, sage, real, and down to earth advice. Respect to Jimmy, his humility and honesty.
This channel is gonna blow up! Us bassists can't get enough youtube bass content :)
Keep up the great work!
They need to do a video on Rocco Prestia
A total Bass Master! I love his playing and style!!!
❤I was lucky enough to have cut some tracks with Jimmy,April Lawton,&Jan Uvena back in 1977 at Kingdom Sound,Syosset,L.I. 😊❤WOW!
Great advice. The fact that he personalizes it is powerful because he is the ultimate musician not just a bass player.
What a fine human being.

Met him last September at a Oz Noy concert What an amazing person and bassist! My No 1
I feel honoured just to have my name on a record with his 😊
Thanks for the sharing some wisdom on soloing on bass! Definitely something I will try to apply in my study!
so brilliant and so simple. My first bass teacher told me to sing the song as I attempt to learn it. I didn't get it until now.
I saw him in the Iridium in New York in 2004 playing with the Yellow Jackets they all were amazing.
Playing 50 years and still excited about learning. That's a true genius.
I've been playing bass 33 years and have yet to learn anything. 😂
Jimmy is a great guy very approachable thank you jimmy….
Very cool! Thank you, Jimmy!
So enjoyable to watch☺️
The one solo I always think of when I hear Jimmie’s name is Brother To Brother by Gino Vannelli. I can’t play it yet. Short, but wow.
Always loved his solo on Man Facing North by the Yellowjackets.
@ I’ll check it out !
The third trade is a monster to play, at least for me.
@ who is the third trade by? I searched “The third trade Jimmy Haslip” and I don’t think I’m finding it.
Postcards is superb as well 👍
Mr. Haslip, a very cool Cat 👌🏿🖤

See him live with the Yellow Jackets at the Bottom Line NYC .
Dang , he and the band were smoking.
the only thing more impressive than his art is his humility
great story
This interview is eight years old. Doesn't mean that what he is saying is not valid.
Right. Felt like it was older
Thumbnail indicates playing the bass, not talking and wasting my time … liars get a thumbs down 👎
Weird comment?
Musicians work is in the mind !
If you have no Ideas? Why are you playing?
