I couldn't make it to the premiere this week, but I'll watch the videos later.
It's always so quiet, tidy and clean in these shops. The complete opposite of supermarkets.

That is the nicest liquor store I've seen. Thank you for this, that was fun! That is how I choose my drinks, too - based on packaging and/or name, haha

This was an interesting to see the inside of the store. I haven't even been in the alcohol stores in the US, although thru the sections the grocery stores. I was wondering if they sell small individual bottles? Tack!

Interesting, and looked like it was very well stocked with a wide range of products. Single malt just means from a single distillery. Ones I'm familiar with taste very different. Old Pulteney, Talisker and Jura. all excellent but Pulteney is my favourite, quite floral and smoky. I make very dark chocolate truffles with it. Beers...I like an occasional stout or porter. Leffe, Erdinger Dunkel(very smooth), Citra made with a unique very citrussy hop, but there are so many nice ones to try! I don't drink often but it's nice as an occasional treat with a meal.

Jag brukar köpa min öl där, och jag kan se att det finns en ny layout på butiken. Alvarinho är ett spanskt vin från Galicien.

watched a couple of your videos, as a Scotsman living on a tiny island in Atlantic Ocean who used to live in The Netherlands(Dordrecht) and learning Swedish single malt is made in a single batch with no mixing, anything else where batches are mixed is called a blended whisky. but the main reason for my comment is my favourite beer is veteöl/Tarwe bier hopefully I remembered the dutch correctly.

Loved this tour! The Systembolaget is very similar to liquor stores in the US--great selection from all over the world of wines, liquor, beer. The main difference I noticed here, and perhaps this is because this store in the city is smaller compared to the suburbs, is less selection of vodka and beer. Also, in the states it's more common for all beer to be sold in six packs rather than single cans or bottles. I love that you can mix and match here. My favorites are bocks and stouts, but I didn't see much of that here. Seemed like there were more ales and lagers--a huge selection in fact! But again, the bigger stores probably have more. Thanks for the tour!

Very interesting Daniel. We take it for granted in the UK that every lowly corner shop sells alcohol! Single malt is the best! It's not a blended whiskey. It's higher quality. I'm a gin, wine and beer lover! In fact I like most booze lol 😜

I always choose single malt. Love to try new brands.
      I dont like blended whiskey.

A Scottish “single malt” actually means is that it is only malt whisky, prepared in the traditional way, and produced by a single distillery in Scotland. It's much more complicated than that in reality, but worth researching for fun. The main difference between Scottish and Irish whiskey is the distillation process. Scotch is distilled twice, whereas Irish is distilled three times, allegedly giving it a smoother finish.
Thanks a lot for the location and tour of System Bolaget. I was hoping to see where one was located because we will need to buy some wine on our visit to Stockholm in May. 🍷🍾🥂

When some years ago I first saw that beer above 3.5 % ABV was called 'stark ol' in Swedish (meaning strong beer), I almost fell over laughing - here in Latvia around that time we had maybe 3-4 beers below 4.5 %, normal beer started around 5%.😃 So I found it hilarious.
Now, after having spent more time in Sweden, I've gotten used to their system.
Btw, as a non-Swedish person, I can confirm that Systembolaget shops are very convenient, they have a great selections of drinks and the price range is very wide and quite reasonable (unlike in Swedish pubs and restaurants - that's a whole different story... 😅).

It has to do with taxes. before diffrent ABV had diffrent taxes. The highest ABV tax(strong beer) got merged with lower ABV classes(middle beer). And because we had those name for beers based of how cheap they were and where you bought them it became natural to call (middle beer), (strong beer) when you used same method to get them.

Moving to Sweden in a week! I have a question, are there only "fancy beer" at Systemet? Do they only sell by the unit? I'm from Canada and we usually buy beer in 24 pack at the grocery store and it's way cheaper than individual ones, does this exisit in Sweden? Thanks a lot

hehe there are all types of beers and prizes. But there is no such thing as ''deals'' on alchohol in Sweden. That is forbidden by law. So 1 beer is the same as 100.

Hi, I'm following you from Italy and your walking tours are very interesting! You show us and describe Stockholm in a very good way.
Just a question on Systembolaget: why sell alcoholic drinks only in these stores if they are like normal supermarkets (even with a better selection) ?
Are there some limits on the amount of drinks you can buy?

    • @letswalkaroundstockholm

One thing it does sucked about the store. Finding specific beer is a hassle because not all stores carry it. I have to go out off town to get Modelo negra for my recipes lol

Since Systembolaget has the exclusive right to sell alcoholic beverages to consumers, it is important to offer a wide range. That's why Systembolaget has one of the world's widest ranges of alcoholic beverages - even in the most remote parts of Sweden.

    Hello

  • @christopherchristianvanlan1809

This company is a big disgrace. The average shop keeps no more than four hundred types of wines and liquor of which half is gin. You'd be hard pressed to find more than two or three types of bourbons. The rest is cheep beer and bag in box wines.
In other words, it is not a liquor store. The design is to hold up products that can get customers a fast intoxication

im not a beer or a wine person. i love nigori sake though..it pairs well with most of the dishes i make. 🤤
can't drink it all that much or else my face would turn super red even just from a little sip..then it'll be obvious that i'm drinking.😮‍💨
