Light is your No.1 safety tool. I carry one everyday in my pocket, as well as one mounted to my CCW. Always!

The light trick to stop somebody is great!! I'll just have to make sure which light I'm using for a medical assessment. LOL.

Thanks Joel, this is useful information. I do carry a surefire light clipped on my pocket everywhere I go. It's actually required carry for our safety team at my church. Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos here. Thanks for doing what you do.

Yeppers, a light is a must have. At my security post I bought every Officer a flashlight to encourage this. Of course, the result was not 100% use. A good visual aid is that scene in Rear Window, using camera flashes.

I worked as a security guard back in the 80's. I was armed with a .38 & 4C cell Maglite. I'd stop people or find people sitting in cars on my property at zero dark thirty & they all said get that light out of my face. I never heard of lumans back then. It wasn't until LED lights did lumans become a thing. No way is a Maglite brighter than A 600 lumun Surefire, but they worked. The only training I got was 20 hrs unarmed & 20 hrs armed. Most of what I learned was by the seat of my pants or informal. Just talking with a supervisor I learned to take a wide turn rounding a corner. I learned the cop word "interview stance" I was told to stay 2 steps back when speaking with strangers on the property, so I'd have time to react. Watch their hands & keep the light in their eyes. Today the training improved with fancy jargon but the concepts remain the same. I'll end with this old traning manual If foung in the guard shack. Room clearing 3 man team. 2 on either side of the door with drawn .38's. Third man in the middle with a 12 ga shotgun.

Another idea when u get blind and can not see drop to the ground if possible. People r looking for u at eye level not on the ground. They will completed OFF GUARD. Roll if necessary.

This video had nothing to do with it‘s title. Please be more accurate. How about: ‚The Importance of a Flashlight as Self-Defense Tool‘?

It's part of your church security patrol technics, isn't it. If not, it should be.
