Got stoned at a house party in the early 90’s this song came on… the drums were colossal dwarfing all the instruments in the mix but it seems so amazing at the time
I think I can owe a fraction of hearing loss to my Dinosaur Jr shows I attended. I love seeing J. with 6 Marshall stacks behind him. Their shows were so loud but sounded so good.
i love this version! Wazzup with that intro?!J reminds me of Kurt when it's their time to go out there and destroy the world with their guitar solos. Just making beautiful, chaotic, messy, (dis)organized noise. As J puts it, "ear-bleeding country"
Thx for uploading a better quality version of the same clip once floating on youtube This is so good you should force yr grandma to watch it!. ...she would most likely dig it
This video aired on HBO for some season the station was doing. I think they showed 3 songs and a minor interview in which J Mascis spoke briefly. He seems to speak more nowadays. I gotta say his playing was wilder and unique back then compared to today! 😝 Sebadoh also had an episode. Pavement possibly too.
Wild 2 minute intro solo and nobody's suprised, definitely Dinosaur Jr. Have you got any more from this show? I'm sure i'd seen more songs from this set before up on here, but the sound was really out of sync and I haven't seen them since.
@GilbertHeadmusic This was after the band broke up, or as I've heard, J kicked out Lou and Murph and got dudes to fill their place...That happened right after the Bug album, and Beyond was the first album with the original line up back in place.
Murph and J fired Lou and “reformed” without him the next day. J played most of the drums on Green Mind, but Murph “wasn’t in a good place” according to J. Eventually Murph left too. I’d not an easy guy to work with
If J was doing this in the late 60s he would’ve been an international smash hit instead it was Hendrix who kicked this door open
Mike Johnson, the unsung hero of grunge
Grunge???
Yes, grunge.
Something so satisfying about the drums on this track
I didn’t think much of it 4 years ago until my friend pointed it out now I can’t ignore them
Perhaps the most underrated guitar player of all time ...
Maybe not underrated, as he IS very respected, but undercelebrated definitely.
Who says he's underrated?
Bro he's got like three of four signature guitars. No-one is underrating him
Love his melodic guitar work… it’s a thing of beauty
Fucking incredible.
Green mind is one of the most underrated albums of all time - total generous
J is shredding
The audience is just standing there
My man on the drums set his Hi Hats up on the second floor
Amazing tone and VIBE
I was kicked out of multiple apartments in the 90s for listening to this shizzle at 11.
You could just have listened to it at your own place ya know

My guitar hero
fuckin gave me the chills

Straight up. These guys, and The Melvins, ruined my hearing. 😂
Somehow J is the lone punk rock guitar hero. Quite a respectable accomplishment.
I watched this video 25k out of the 26k.
Whether he knows it or not, J is connected to God / The Universe, and it comes out in his music (almost sacred like J.S. Bach)
Beautiful comment ❤
I need desperatly more songs from this footage. The whaole gig if possible

J will forever be my father

Love this song and that intro was craaaaaazyyy good!
Could we get a collab of J. Mascis and Doug Marsch of built to spill please?
Now that would be good. I would fly to USA to see that.
well in February 2022 Dino Jr and Built To Spill are playing in Las Vegas.... check the dino jr website for it
absolutely amazing.
A beautiful song, thanks, Dinosaur 🙏
my fav line-up by far !!!! live that is..
if they play this when i see them live, i can die peacefully after
have they?
No. The last time they did this one was 2009.
This is fucking amazing !!!
'Tis the best Dinosaur Jr. song ... ever.
I love George Berz's drumming. Wonder what he is doing now?
Murph could never play this. Thats why they don't play it now.
@@willardstooth blasphemy
Such a great intro to a great song..They dont play this enough live!!
j was very upbeat in that period
Thx for uploading a better quality version of the same clip once floating on youtube

it’s great to have a live version of this on youtube but it is a shame this is the highest quality and that they don’t perform it more

Se me hizo necesidad ver este video cada día!
who is drumming?? i wish murph was that great 😂😂
“But you don’t even know you girl”
I saw them last night in NYC. Epic.

Miraculous!!!!
Now here's an appropriate time to really tell J. to settle the fuck down! haha
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'S FUCKING GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW
what a drummer! what his name?
George Berz
@@hoacky Seen him live with J - indeed a great drummer.
I grew up with him in Westfield, good dude
One of their best songs for sure - this version might be better than studio
これはすごい
thanks for the high quality

アップありがと!
sickest tone
@SuperTlss Thanks, I thought he was kicked out at some point in the nineties
Who is playing drums
George Berz
WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!!!
NO WE ARE NOT!!!
👽🍻🤘
@GilbertHeadmusic
He got kicked out back in 89.
Why isn’t J this energetic sans guitar - his brain is working faster
He's autistic. And that's a great but difficult thing.
@@feetz4191it wouldn’t surprise me if he is but where did you learn this? never heard anything about him being autistic
we want Lou
No, we don't.
@Evanheads I wasn't aware Lou made another band, they are pretty good, but not as good as the original dinosaur line up
@GilbertHeadmusic sebadoh
Where is Lou?
Nobody needs Lou with his head up his arz.
Up his own butt as usual
how does someone one like j masics who has no charisma write such great music.
DADGUITARD he puts all his charisma in his songs
Seriously, fuck you. He has more charisma in his left earlobe than most performers x 100.
Calm down
Different brain chemistry and construction. When playing music he is connected to God, the rest of the time not so much.
