    Hello, I'm new to your channel and I enjoy the fact that you don't try to make a whole show of everything. Anyways I just wanted to say I plant sun flowers direct ( I'm 6 b, ohio ) I use bricks to do it. You know the bricks that have 2,4 or 6 holes in them. So I lay the brick down drop the seed in the hole and touch the seed down with a pencil, leaving the brick . The brick helps keep the plant sturdy when older and keeps the birds from being able to eat the seedlings, p.s. also helps retain moisture. Looking forward to more videos. T

    I love love sunflowers. I also love cardinals. I put out tons of loose sunflower seeds in a space I have exclusively for birds. I put feeders and a bath there for them too. So far they have respected my garden, and the seeds I sow there. Knock on wood. Now that I wrote this...I won't see anything bloom! Knock knock knock. Oh...and I am convinced that the birds in my garden watch me. They see me give them seeds and water, so they definitely see me plant my own seeds....and give them water. I bet that's how they know exactly where they are.

Some of my baby sunflowers’ bottom leaves have a brown color at their tips and others have a yellowish color before they become very crispy and eventually crumble and die. But I assume it’s Not overwatering as they’re blooming just fine. One baby flower opened yesterday! So what am I doing wrong? Are they not getting enough water? And how much water do they need per day? Thanks.

    Chipmunks or squirrels ate almost all of my sunflower plants when they were about 6-8" tall. How can I keep that from happening next year?

      I had a lot of problems with birds doing the same in my yard. I used a row cover until the plants were too large for them to damage. Hope that helps! 🌱🌱🌱

    Do you usually ws sunflowers around the same time as tomatoes and peppers?

    • @TONYAwiththeflowers
      @TONYAwiththeflowers  4 роки тому +1

      I would definitely sow the sunflowers later. They grow really, really fast.

      Dwarf varieties of sunflower might be a good choice - some only grow to be 1 ft tall. Good luck!

      I’m ordering some dwarf seeds from park seed ... it’s a mix of different kinds... I can’t decide on just one variety... course parkseed is not the only place to get them... hope you found some you like

      Try zinnas.they are about 3 feet and easy to take care of and hardy.its helps to get a tomato cage or stake them when they get about a foot tall do wind dont knock them down

    I’ve been trying to grow sunflowers but after they grow their first true leaves, they die. I live in Arizona and the temperatures are really high so idk if that’s the issue but I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing wrong.

      Are you starting them in trays? If so, definitely make sure to harden them off before planting outside. Extra water while they get established may also help. Good luck!
