- Police said a person wanted in connection to the disappearance of Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday morning.
Fort Hood should be investigated. This isn't the first time the community has had problems with the soldiers from Fort Hood.
I lived about 40 or 50 miles from there most of my life and there are always stories in the local news about soldiers killing or raping. There’s always something about finding a body being cut up in a dumpster or in a field. My buddy was a cop in Killeen and ended up losing his life to a drunk and high soldier gunning him down

So the military can find a Taliban leader inside of a cave in the middle of no where but can't find a U.S. soldier on THEIR base? That doesn't make any sense, every single soldier is accounted for every morning and night. Constant drug tests are given out to every single soldier and practically the same people see each other every single day. How in the world did no one notice that she was missing for over 2 months? Something ain't right here, but it does not matter what is right or wrong because the U.S. military and the government will cover for their own no matter what. Notice how as soon as someone's remains were found someone killed themselves. That same person who killed himself also has no picture behind the face YET... Which means someone is looking out for that person until they can remove more information.

@Frank Rice Most likely they had some responsibility but it was probably someone higher up than them.
Because active duty soldiers are accounted for in morning formation, Vanessa Guillen, having disappeared on a Wednesday after having shown up for work, would not be technically absent from duty until the next morning's formation. Another thing to consider is that the base had gone into COVID-19 lockdown. Only certain soldiers had to show up to work and only on certain days. It is possible that she was not expected to show up to any formation on the following Thursday. But, assuming that she missed a scheduled formation on Thursday, a soldier is not considered Absent Without Leave (AWOL) until 24 hrs. passed (Friday morning, in her case). From my understanding, after the unit could not contact her in those days, they passed the information on to the Criminal Investigative Division (a Federal Law Enforcement Agency). At that point, jurisdiction is between CID and local Law Enforcement. Soldiers go AWOL by the hundreds each year. Most return within days and are disciplined. If they do not return within 30 days, they are deemed "deserters" and a warrant is put out for their detention if found. Unfortunately for Vanessa, a fellow soldier - it seems - ended her life. Vanessa never abandoned her post. RIP, Vanessa.

This! I was enlisted 8 years. The military is rampant with sexual harassment and if a complaint goes anywhere the offender will be given a slap on the wrist. Filed a complaint that went to my CO and then the offender began intimidation practices because he was a higher rank. Filed a complaint about that.....nothing. Literally had to watch my back until I transferred to a new duty station 8 months later. I was fully prepared to defend myself should he have tried to harm me. It should NEVER get that far.

you do realize that people who are faced with going to jail commit suicide all the time right? That includes those who commit the types of crimes this person is accused of. They would rather die than spend life in prison or have to face any kind of justice (it's a control thing just like their crime was). Add to that the fear of God the military puts in you about places like Fort Leavenworth and the suicide rate for soldiers facing jail time is especially high. Not everything is a cover up or conspiracy. Is there a grander coverup regarding sexual assault in the military? Yes but the military isn't out there killing people to cover it up they just don't go out of their way to punish those who commit the crimes because they are high ranking and it would be embarrassing.
I mean once the evidence comes it will probably point to the fact this man killed her and it will probably point to the fact that he had help in doing so but that help wasn't the army itself it was friends of his (who just happen to be military as well).

She told her mother (according to what her mother stated) that she didn't think anyone would believe her, or words to that affect. Apparently, she had also told fellow soldiers (friends) and none of them reported anything. What would be more useful here is determining if there is an issue of unit trust in that unit's command climate. Why didn't Vanessa feel open to report the incident? Or, was it that the perpetrator seemed so dangerous that she feared reporting on him? The unit's command climate needs to be investigated.

Fire the Commander of Fort Hood who previously had reports on this guy concerning sexual harassment and did nothing which closed the door for any further reporting of sexual harassment from anyone else including Vanessa. Once she went missing the post commander did not investigate the loss of a soldier under his charge. This is at the very least a gross dereliction of duty and at the most criminal.

I was stationed at Fort Hood 2017-2019 and I can tell you that Fort Hood is shady and one of the worst bases. They do not care for their soldiers and only care about pleasing higher-ups.
Pleasing higher-ups is widespread across the different branches and affects not only military personnel but their families as well. When I married my ex-husband who is a USAF pilot, one of the more seasoned wives lectured me about the duty I had as a wife to also please the higher-ups and whoever my husband's commanders were...I did not comply, and well, my ex started being abusive with me...I thank God I could escape.

I don't think we'll ever know all the details. I believe the CID is going to try to close this case as quickly as possible. With him being dead now we won't know if he was the one who was harassing her or if he was just a participant in her disappearance.

Once this case finally got the coverage it should've gotten 2 months ago, it seems the remains were located suspiciously quick. I think the body was on base initially and when ppl started demanding answers, it was dumped where it was found, TO BE FOUND (and found off base at that), to draw attention away from the base and the Army.

The remains were found on june 19th. The remains are incased in concrete so it's going to take awhile to get through all the dried cement. Also, there's someone else in custody so if it was a cover up there damn sure wouldn't be another person in jail.

Does he even have a wife? I thought that they were going to contact next to kin. Apparently, his family does not live in Killeen/Fort Hood area. The other two suspects have wives they been married for 20+ years and grown adult children around the age of Vanessa. One of them has two grandchildren. I am with the family on this one. Victim apparently complained up the chain of command and nothing was done. She said she was afraid but was ignored. Chain needs to be kicked out of the ranks. Congress needs to get involved, this kind of thing goes on in the army all the time. And other institutions as well.

The man that committed sucide is just a small piece of the puzzle. With all these bodies being found and soldiers coming up dead( I'vedone research on this base, and it's horrifc), he knew things were about to hit the fan and took the coward route out. There's a ton of red flags during this investigation. Too many breaches of protocol. How did Aaron Robinson just walk off base when law enforcement was on their way to question him? I feel as if someone tipped him off. I also believe that there's multiple people involved. This all seems like a coordinated effort to disappear Vanessa.

I respect our nations military but this hits me in the heart. I have many friends and family that serve and have served. This is something that us out here who are not in the military would never think could happen. We hold our military at a high standard and believe our soldiers are one team, one nation! To see one of ours get taken from this earth by one of OURS is disgusting! We all demand justice for Vanessa Guillén.
Im pro military and this is bad! They busted a sex trafficking ring there a week prior to her disappearance and arrested a bunch of people
