Three absolute musical phenomenas on stage!! However, I've actually witnessed people leaving the room at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2004 while Camilo was playing stuff that very few people could enjoy or understand...being a genius is sometime lonely!
@luisjr1996 I dont see why you gotta bash Neil. In South America they worship Neil. If you talked to Horacio he would have nothing but good things to say about Peart, and vice versa. They just do do different things. Playing the who's better who's worse game is for middle school playgrounds not honest musicians. I love them both.
There are thousands of drummers who are the best ever when you are listening to them. Peart is a great drummer too... It's more that a drummer is great when he is approaching mastery of a personal way of playing. The public tends to think music is a contest. It's not. Not a single great drummer out there could pretend to be another. But any mediocre player can sound just like any other.
Ok I won´t say he is the best drummer, but certainly Horacio has achieved a level of virtuosity and independence in the limbs that I have not seen in another drummer of current times. It is just amazing.
C'mon, he's not THAT bad. He's just one of those people that has a genre that they've found they can fill well with their specific tastes and abilities. The same can be said of Travis Barker within Punk Rock and, truth be told. Buddy Rich within Big Band. Please don't jump on me for that, I'm obviously not comparing them all as drummers, just in their comparable niches. Buddy obviously wouldn't have taken up a Punk Rock gig. He wouldn't want them and they wouldn't want him.
This is amazing first off....second dude has serious skills...third and I never thought I would say this but.....there is such a thing as too much cow bell!
Gotta' say, it looks beautiful and the drums sound great but, we can't hear many of the parts of his set! The Toms are just ghosts and even the big mambo-bell and other rack items are just not heard! What's up with that! We need to hear every thing this genius plays, please?
Peart is not the best in the world, but he's certainly decent. He's written interesting and memorable rhythms with Rush: Subdivisions, Jacob's Ladder, Xanadu, Tom Sawyer (overplayed, but still well written). While he plays jazz too stiffly and his solos are kind of flashy and not actually that amazing, I still think he's a solid drummer. Recall that drumming well in one style and making your name in one style is still worth some merit even if it's not worth calling said drummer "the best".
THIS GUY KNOWS HIS MUSIC WAOOO NEVER HERD OF HIM BUT NAVIGATING I FOUND HIM WAOO HES , GOOD ....I HEARD HIS MUSIC WITH THE GREAT GIOVANNI HIDALGO WAO A COMBINATION
the same solo? People don't regard Neil as highly as they do because of drum solos (even though his are excellent) it's because he makes the drums sing like no other player and it just sounds so perfect with the songs.
Love you Horacio! Long, long time no see, but always in my heart. A great honor to know you. Abrazos, if in San Diego, mi casa es tu casa. 👍🏼🙏🏼😎🎼🎵🎶🙏🏼😎🥁🎸🎶🎵🎼
@theSWclan lol yeah when I listen to the bass it's 9 beats till the bass goes back to its first note I think. but there are some sectionsof that song in 4/4 though like when the violin has a solo.
He beats out Antonio Sanchez (in my opinion) because he sounds more authentic in his latin music. Sanchez is every bit the amazing beast as far as technique and independence. But I like Hernandez' more ethnic sound. Man, good drummers are the stuff of life!
Now that's some tasty playing. My left ankle is aching just watching him play the cowbell & hi-hat pattern.
I am here because Martin Lopez, formally of the Death Metal band Opeth name-dropped Horacio Hernandez. Cheers.
what an awesome talent. Aren't you glad there are people like this to show us what is possible. I find this very inspiring.

EL NEGRO is by far the best Latin drummer on the planet. !!

WHOA,Each one of is limbs are independent, amazing,....
what style of drumming is this? all this clave genres are like salsa? like son clave, rumba clave? and this style is very different from samba right?

Excelente baterista.
Ok I won´t say he is the best drummer, but certainly Horacio has achieved a level of virtuosity and independence in the limbs that I have not seen in another drummer of current times. It is just amazing.

The most musical drummer EVER!
the same solo? People don't regard Neil as highly as they do because of drum solos (even though his are excellent) it's because he makes the drums sing like no other player and it just sounds so perfect with the songs.

This guy's business is all pleasure. Awesome 👌
master of coordination for sure, not one missed or off time hit with his left leg
@Geoff1928 it's because of the tension, it's just a normal pedal.
@Geoff1928 I think it's because it keeps landing on the leg of the hihat stand
3 people disliked the video... and they're probable DEAF!
Horacio ''EL Negro'' Hernandez
Neil Peart

He beats out Antonio Sanchez (in my opinion) because he sounds more authentic in his latin music. Sanchez is every bit the amazing beast as far as technique and independence. But I like Hernandez' more ethnic sound.
Man, good drummers are the stuff of life!
