Glad you mentioned his deadlift training. I find it baffling that no one really talks about his deadlift speed reps with the missed lockout; he’s one of the goats of deadlifting and I haven’t seen a single person talk about them, despite him saying the partial deadlifts were an essential part of him hitting the 500kg deadlift
i think thats the bar he said he got made for himself which is more whippy and unstable for strengthening his stabilizer muscles, he used it on bench aswell but i could be wrong though not sure
No, it was not due to his training, sauce, diet or anything Out of the hundred hours he put into it, that was solely due to that extra 5 seconds he held onto the 500. It almost cost him his life, other than that he was always a very "healthy" and athletic strongman
@@dummy9517he was a walking heart attack. He even had heart attack scares at a giant live show. It was 100% because he was the biggest drug abuser ever in strongman. He went all in for a year and a half and almost killed himself. And he's always be a drama queen, fake fainting etc. His naratuve about the aftermath of his deadlift is waaaaaay over exagerated
It was in his training video with Larry Wheels he explained it. He basically said in a heel’d show you do get to be more stable, but because your heel is elevated your calf is partially extended already so you don’t get as much out of it as you would with a flat shoe. I get where he’s coming from but whatever works lol.
Eddie presses it similar to the old clean and press in weightlifting where you would lean back to turn it into an incline bench and then reverse the backwards lean at around the midpoint. People say Eddie used only shoulder strength but you do get to use your hips and back with that pressing style. It is a very clever technique.

His 216 axle is my favorite strongman lift. Gorgeous

One of the greatest feats of strength ever.
You should do a breakdown of his deadlift just for the fun of it because we all know he’s the best deadlifter of all time
Yes, behind Thor
@@luckyluky1841 who’s that?
@@hassanzafar6697 Eddie’s daddy
@@luckyluky1841 Thor lifted 501 once. Eddie was the goat at deadlifting the whole time he competed
@@luckyluky1841 yeah thats why 2017wsm eddie smoked thor on the deadlift max
Another great insight thanks for these!
Thanks for the video It was well worth the waiting ,, very informative analysis
Shoulda played the end part of 200kg training axle video, where the axle breaks and Eddie says “Fookin ‘ell”
Really good video Shane
I think he said he uses thumbs over, because the rotation part on the chest right before the actual press is much much harder without thumbs
Yeahhhhh... nice, thx Shane 😍
he's not gonna come back because the cost of being this storng was him almost dying

Yes strongman fam
Eddie said he prefers to press in flat shoes because he can use his calfs more in the press. If your heel is elevated you can’t
Those strict press calf gains
@@MSTSystems think he was referring to log press lol not his strict axle
@@hassanzafar6697 yeah haha, neither makes sense but I get how he’d of come up with that 🙌
