    Beautiful! I can't believe I haven't done this hike. Yes...it's HOT up here. Not used to it being so hot up in the Sierra.

      Thanks so much Catherine I appreciate the kind words. Yes in the direct sun it’s unbelievably hot. I’m assuming being at elevation makes it more intense?

    Wow! Thanks for bringing this stunning hike to us! Yes - the wildflowers, waterfalls, and streams sure were beautiful. I'm glad you got there when you did!

      Thanks so much Lisa... yes it was great timing, bugs weren’t too bad but o don’t think I have EVER seen more flowers on a short hike than that and more types. There were at least 30 more kinds I didn’t film. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching!

    So peaceful! The red columbines are one of my favorite flowers in the mountains.

      Thank you my friend I agree with you. This particular trail had a crazy amount of flowers and tons of different types. Any times you go along the water you will find that of course. I could of just made a video on the different types of flowers alone lol. Thanks for watching as always. I feel like I’m slowly learning and getting better and better at these videos. If there’s something you’d like to see or me do differently let me know. Cheers

      Thank you and yeah got really lucky so far. I started late today so just picked a shorter one since it’s getting so hot by 10:00 and today’s hike was stunning as well! Definitely gotten lucky but there’s probably not too many ugly hikes here ya know? Lol

      Thanks buddy, yeah I usually don’t think of filming up but those trees were gorgeous and it just looked great in the camera... try to mix up the shots a little bit but there’s only so many ways to film it lol

    I was here last year for the fall colors. I'm coming back again early October.

    So, so beautiful. Could you have camped there?

    • @MarmaladeOutdoors
      @MarmaladeOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      Actually probably not but I’m not entirely sure. Didn’t really see a single campsite and it felt like a regular hiking trail not for backpacking and camping

    I heard you were thinking of doing another section of the PCT. Whooohoooo!!!! Please tell us your thoughts about how you decide which section to do and why. I am so excited for you....

      @MarmaladeOutdoors  3 роки тому

      Hey MC8, great hearing from you. Well yes I had it all planned and quite a big and amazing section and even have a permit for Aug 15TH but as luck or unluck would have it I got what I think is going to be a really good job and I start Monday which halted all my plans. Only chance I have of still doing it is if I really hate the job which I don’t see happening lol. Did you want more details? Since I’m most likely not doing it it’s kind of a moot point right?

      @@MarmaladeOutdoors Congratulations on your new job! The trail will wait for you until you are ready. And YES, if you have a spare minute, I would love to hear what your plans would have been if you were not starting your new job on Monday.

    Great Sierra trails I’m planning on Parker lake trail to go past lake to the water fall behind lake

      If there’s a trail you totally should. My thing was I got up that day at 2:30 am and was on the road at 3:00 from San Diego and drove up to mammoth. Went the the visitors center to get info and buy a map. Got for the drove over 30 mins to this hike so I was very tired. It’s been beyond blazing hot so I was lucky to even do that trail but I’m here to hike so. Let me know how the hike up to the falls goes!

    Thanks for another hike to put on the list this season! Any campsites to spend the night in this area?

      Well I paid for a campsite for a few nights near June Lake but you could stay anywhere

    The "marmalades" are Indian Paintbrush. I also saw Mariposa Lily (white), lupine, and columbine. The daisy might have been mule ears. That's all I can identify.

    • @MarmaladeOutdoors
      @MarmaladeOutdoors  3 роки тому

      Lol I jokingly call every orange flower “Marmalade’s” but know their Indian paintbrush because as you know we have them down south all around the pct. that trail you have to do in spring. I have never seen so many flowers (volume) on any short trail and there were at least 30 more species I didn’t show... pretty incredible short trail. It’s steep but short

    Great video./hike.
    Do you need a permit for a day hike on this trail?

    Always like to get early starts...avoid the crowds that way and can usually find a good place to park! Just love a trail with nice bodies of water...and a falls is a bonus! Otis doesn't do well on crossing over on logs though...the last one we did, his hind end slipped and he was stuck straddling it...had to come and lift him back up by the harness...his face though made me laugh so hard! :-) Take great care and hope you are looking forward to a wonderful weekend! Bruce and Otis

    another great hike. Did you check out the beaver ponds just before the lake? I'm going to need to put this trail on my "to do" list along with the one yesterday, Saddlebag. Mosquitos? And, are you carrying a bear canister?

    • @MarmaladeOutdoors
      @MarmaladeOutdoors  3 роки тому

      The thumbnail I used for this video is from that beaver pond but didn’t stop to check it out. Wanted to hike before it got hot 🔥 lol. Mosquitos weren’t super bad but a little bit there. No bear canister for either saddlebag or Lundy Canton because I’m just say hiking. Not necessary for that. Glad you enjoyed it
