The best sets you could/will be able to buy this year are Mountain Fortress, Old Train Engine Shed, Mushroom House, Brick Cross Train Station, The Art of Chocolate, Eldorado Fortress, Medieval Castle, 21333.
Eldorado could do easily be what happened to those batwing sets, one does well (pirates of barricuda) then for the next set too many people pick it up when there is low demand. PoB did well bc the demand was low, but so was the supply. Now there will be higher supply, but the demand won't keep up.

Hey DG. Always enjoy your vids. If the Ninjago City Gardens is an absolutely winner then why would you only think about picking up one for investment. Surely you would pick up as many as you could if the price point was correct. Yes, I know it’s large, pricey, storage etc, but it’s A-tier, so why not load up?

The LEGO Movie 2 Brickheadz were limited to 2000 of each character and sold at Target exclusively for the first run and Wal-Mart for the second. They sold out within hours…
Doing some research, LotR did not take off until 2020. It was relatively flat until then with only modest gains for first 6-7 years. They have tripled in the past 4 years. My 10 year old son loves and plays Sonic, it is not a boomer thing. The movies have reintroduced him to a young generation.
I noticed the same thing after we recorded, checking the LOTR sets, they all exploded in 2020. I didn't know Sonic appealed to the young generation, I just remember people memeing the 2020 movie so badly they had to delay it and redo the art style 😳
Good video. But when I see your Star Wars tiers I question how well you know the source material. For example, you can’t army build with that gunship because it’s the wrong color. The colors represent different groups of clones, had it been say purple you could use it for Mace windu’s army. But red are the clones that basically hang around Coruscant or guard politicians.
I see people army building with the Coruscant Gunship all the time. You're right that people may not want to buy 4-6-8 of them, but I think people are still going to want it, especially if there's no regular playscale gunship available.

But it makes some clone sets very desirable and others not so much. I always ask them what they are buying and how many. My read is they don’t love it, but it’s sort of the best available so they are torn. And how much would they pay if they are torn on a set I guess we will have to wait and see

Mostly we discuss sealed set values here on the Podcast. Some set values go up even used/built, but it's less pronounced and consistent than new in sealed box performance.

It's definitely the platform with the most bad actors. The consensus seems to be that the scams and returns are just CODB on the world's largest marketplace...

After Q4/2024 our high value Lego inventory will be completely migrated to other platforms. In our experience the level of fraud increases significantly once the item price gets over $150.

Polish speed champions market is different. Revently I sold my last 76912 for 40$, Supra is already 22.5$, Jesko almost 20$, Aston Martin 76911 also 19$. European Amazons keep prices high or are out of stock with 2023 eols. LEGO is fixing Polish prices in a few days for 573 sets (lowering 5-12%), unfortunately not Ferrari or Lambo.

My advise would be very cautious at looking at sold prices on eBay and sold on Amazon at the current moment the global and national economic conditions don’t look good at all and inflation is killing households and I see very dark times ahead. ..I would be very careful about pricing out items and I also see extra longer hold times which is ok as lomb as this is a side gig only.
50 for 3 brickheadz is no doubling your money. Buy-in is 3x9.99=30, ebay fees are 11% and then some sold offers include free shipping which at least will cost 5 or 6 bucks. Brings your profit down to net sale down to 40 over a 30 investment. Thats roughly 30% and might not even be worth the trouble for a few coins. I like the analysis guys but please only talk NET PROFIT when discussing EOL sets and looking at sold Ebay lots. Just ordered the big Ninjago set last week in order to get the latest batch of GWPs. Really like the design so not sure whether I want to keep it until next year sealed or just build it. Its not really being sold by other shops over here

I got my minecraft brickheadz during black friday, so I stacked 2x Insider points, GWPs and Rakuten...so I think my buy in was approx. $7 instead of $10. With that, I've doubled my investment. What do you think about retirement vs savings? A model example: Captain Rex Helmet is not retiring this year, but you walk into a local store and they have 8 boxes (in perfect condition) for 50% off! It is hard to ignore it just because it is not retiring... Would you buy? I would!
Great question. It sounds counterintuitive, but because the Rex isn't scheduled to retire for another 18 months, I'd pass on that deal, or if I picked it up I'd sell them for a profit immediately. Why have your money sitting on the shelf, not even starting to grow in value for 1.5 years? In that time you could buy a whole other class of sets from June to December 2024, use them to double your money by August/September of 2025, then turn around and reinvest those profits into Rex at 20 or 30% off in late 2025.
Also these Ninjago monster sets will be the white whale for all the kids that are now between 5-15 and into lego ninjago. For the next 30 years there will be people finally getting to the income level where they feel ok with being these. They will not forget about these.
I've followed you guys for quite a while now but boy, did you ever disappoint with this video. How in the world can The Office (21336) not be in your top 25?!? It was announced that it's retirement is moving up to Dec 2024 at the same time that we had the Star Wars retirement news in May. The set is a WalMart exclusive, the TV series is still wildly popular, 15 very likeable minifigures, all unique to the set and a not-great-but-not-so-bad 10.3 PPP. To make it even more valuable, it's the base for many Rebrickable city projects. To finish up, it's a fun build with many Easter Eggs built into the set. But that's ok, you guys keep talking about Tales of The Space Age and the NES set and just leave the Office to those of us that want to make money investing.
We didn't pick the top 25, the source for this list was KDX's data table of most mentioned sets by the community. I love 21136 The Office and will likely be investing in it. I guess it's a sleeper since not many are mentioning it! KDX would be able to tell you exactly how many mentions it has this year.
4 mentions with an Enthusiasm Score of 2.0 year to date. But now that it's on the retirement list...I expect the mentions to go up. I'm a pretty big fan of the set!

I dont think its all about investing and making money, as a sealed collector myself its just fun to think that i have sealed lego and that they are worth something, its just a positive feeling in my brain, cant explain it haha
more than that! yes investing, but building, collecting, MOC building, building with my kids, talking about LEGO with my dad, treasuring the sets I"m holding on to, watching UA-cam, doing research, following new releases. It's a really fun hobby. And remember, me buying sets to invest is not preventing anyone from buying any sets on the primary market. No set spends most of it's shelf life out of stock, so tons of opportunity for everyone! Take care my friend!

I dont think its all about investing and making money, as a sealed collector myself its just fun to think that i have sealed lego and that they are worth something, its just a positive feeling in my brain, cant explain it haha
more than that! yes investing, but building, collecting, MOC building, building with my kids, talking about LEGO with my dad, treasuring the sets I"m holding on to, watching UA-cam, doing research, following new releases. It's a really fun hobby. And remember, me buying sets to invest is not preventing anyone from buying any sets on the primary market. No set spends most of it's shelf life out of stock, so tons of opportunity for everyone! Take care my friend!
