“Shall not be infringed “ is about as straight forward as it gets. Any law that makes it harder for a law abiding citizen to bear arms is in direct violation of the second amendment.
I have had alot of arguments with people on this topic . How are law abiding people responsible for the actions of criminals ? Also that poll asks people if they support background checks not universal background checks . The only way to enforce a universal background check is with a registration . If you change the poll question from background check to universal background checks you will see the support for it drop .
Colion, I wish our politicians could speak as thoughtful, researched and in line with our constitution as you are. Keep fighting the good fight, you have a lot of good Americans behind you.
You really think they have any “stance” on any issue? They dont just impersonate other people, they impersonate emotions, fake intelligence, memorize lines & talking points… this is just another gig for him. Same with all the actors who act ‘concerned’ about weather patterns & show enthusiasm for cuisine ala insect.
This is a non argument that applies to anyone who isn't an expert on the subject, which is just about everyone, including this youtuber. Ad Hominem and Appeal to Authority are fallacies and they go both ways mate. If your argument discredits the actor, then it also has to discredit this youtuber, and it has to discredit you, yourself.
I think what Matthew doesn’t understand, is that gun owners are already INCREDIBLY responsible. But when you have a slap on the wrist followed by a rotating door for criminals…THEN you have problems.
@ramahadranhennessy9300 gang bangers lead spraying the houses of their rivals are gun owners too, is that group included in your list of INCREDIBLY responsible gun owners?
He should stick to his day job and cease from the assignment of blame onto lawful gun owners. If his concerns be sincere, then I would expect him to take it up with local and federal governments with respect to the addressing of their current mishandling of actual criminals, those who have actually committed crimes using guns. The criminals do not register their firearms or purchase them legally. His comments are out of left field, inappropriate and illicit in me a measure of disgust, as with the woke. The minute that "meaningful & actual ramifications" for the firearm violence is established and implemented, THEN and only then will a reduction be experienced. I don't own a gun, however, I am grateful that most of my good neighbors own plenty. Also, look at the recently averted attempted school shooting AT A HEBREW school in Memphis, TN; shooter averted by tight security and no one was shot, no one injured..
If anyone should take responsibility for the actions of criminals, it should be the politicians whose failed policies allow criminality to run rampant.
What people dont like to point out is most gun related crime happens in Democrat cities with already strict gun laws. This proves one thing; gun laws dont mean much when you have policies that promote crime and violence. Criminals dont care about laws. They know this.

Same here growing up we got a new gun every two years. I remember those years at Christmas I couldn't wait to see that long thin package behind the tree. And of course we were required to take gun safety courses and because we grew up around guns we knew had a handle one.
You always hear about more gun control laws, but as a retired peace officer, so many times when the prosecutors had the opportunity to actually enhance penalties against criminals who used or illegally possessed guns, I saw them plea bargain out the weapons charges in favor of an easy plea bargain to some lesser offense. This does nothing to punish a criminal who decides to use a gun in the commission of his crime. It emboldens them to do it again the next time.
When them Dems talk about assault weapons, it shows that Dems aren't interested in actually curbing crime when most of the crime are being committed by stolen handguns but like you said they give a easy plea bargain and they are back out on the street and doing it again
Matthew is an actor. I’ll take responsibility when his side takes responsibility for this administration and all of their soft on crime initiatives that put the rest of us who don’t have private security and gated communities in jeopardy.

Yep. SCOTUS has ruled that the 'militia clause' was simply an additional rider/thought, attached to the basic, individual right to keep & bear arms guaranteed to every citizen.
@@captaincapitalism264that militia clause is there to allow the people to protect them selves. Consider for a moment that law enforcement is not legally obligated to protect the citizens nor is any government entity and our military is only to be used against threats... @@Ashtor1337 To protect themselves...from a someday-possible tyrannical government, indeed. My point was that SCOTUS determined that the right/ability to form a militia in that scenario, is simply part of (not the sole reason for) the very individual right to keep & bear arms which the Founders of course saw as a priori -- i.e., it almost goes without saying that the Creator intended us to be able to use the best means available to us to defend ourselves and our loved ones. And you're correct, the police are there to solve crimes, they have zero legal obligation to protect any of us. Only we can be our own Instant Responders.
He sees "responsibility". I see manipulation. Coercing one into accepting responsibility for someone else's crime. Matthew! Take responsibility. Wash your hair! 😊👍🇺🇸
Being a gun owner is a responsibility. It’s a responsibility that falls solely on the gun owner themselves. It’s not the responsibility of society to do anything other than enforce criminal acts. That’s why it’s imperative that you be able to protect yourself.
Yes. Criminals need to be more clear headed and hold themselves responsible for their crimes. My guy, we wouldn’t have crime if everyone was on that wavelength
Well going by McConaughey's logic. I want all Hollywood actors to take responsibility for the wide spread sexual assaults and kid diddlin we've seen over the years. If we can prevent just ONE Drew Barrymore then holding Hollywood responsible just makes "common sense".
As a Texan, Matthew McConaughey scares me more than Beto O'Roark ever has. He's likable enough that he could persuade people to vote for him and he could actually win the governorship if he ever ran. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing if I ever saw one.
I've always had a gut feeling about Matt from the first time I saw him on screen. He's not based; just good enough of an actor to play a convincing based character.
It's a pleasure hearing you Colion . Every father AND mother should teach their sons AND daughters from early age . Start by ' playing ' but always following safety rules . Of course begin with water pistols . Try not to start with a machineguns. Respect , Salute .
For the most part, that is what they should do. Listen to the will of the people. In this case, over 120 million gun owners. But! They should NEVER violate our Bill of Rights! Not enough people spoke out against FDR locking up tens of thousands of Japanese Americans in race-based concentration camps, with no charge. Not enough people spoke out against FDR's gun laws. Not enough people spoke out against FDR forcing farmers to plow crops under, as children were eating out of garbage cans. The only thing saving us is the fact there are over 120 million gun owners.
And Matthew only does what keeps him in Hollywood's pocket. Let's not lie to ourselves, he's not cut out for politics. He makes a good Hogg2.0 and that's all. Out for the Bloomberg briefcase
If the real numbers of infringement supporters were anything remotely like they pretend, this would never have been a question. Polls have called it wildly wrong for as long as there have been polls. There's a reason people lie about stuff like this; but the truth, when the votes hit the paper, is that 'We the people' seem - in large majority - to want government to keep their (censored) hands off the 2nd Amendment.
we are going to restrict ball point pens, because people have written bad checks with them and it will make it less likely they can do so in the future.
If you tell a couple that something is going to kill their children and the solution for that is A they will not question, they will not want to hear anyone that says against that, because they are scared of their children death so if the solution is A then it's A and they don't wanna hear the oppositon, this is enough to they give up on rights because of fear, that is the real problem with fear, people full of fear will believe in anything that promises that will solve the problem.
He pretty much stated what the group he is advocating for does and believes that the other side is using it for manipulative means when in fact the gun control lunatics are doing that manipulative tactic
Criminals must be held accountable for THEIR actions alone, but law abiding citizens cannot continue to be punished for simply exercising our 2nd Amendment rights. Having served as a police officer in a large urban city, criminals will continue to acquire firearms and no law can prevent it.
see you understand this, to me it's as easy as simple math 1+1=2. So many politicians lack the most basic common sense, why did they get elected? That's so dangerous for us all. I don't see anyone taking a look at the long term effects of the changes they want to make, you know, when everyone alive today has lived out their lives. "Assault weapons" ban, can't do anything for the reasons they want it, but, for sure it will cause our great great (give or take some "great") grandchildren to live a horrific way of life. Happen to every free society before ours. The 2nd isn't even about guns, it's about making sure we never have to fight to get our rights back , by making it so impossible to take them , that the attempt is never made. The 2nd makes us the government & the primary military, we are suppose to have armaments equal to that of our secondary military and all levels of law enforcement. to make sure we can always win a fight against our own military, because thats the only way we can keep the right to vote.if we can't vote , we can't keep free speech.(we can't win against our military) our voting rights can be taken so easy. oh wow, sorry, that's a lot. Yes i agree with you
Law does not and has never prevented crime. Law empowers the rest of us to force a punishment on those who break the law. It is by it's nature reactive, not proactive.
I remember when hardly anybody carried a gun, they didn't have to. Nowadays more and more law abiding citizens are carrying. Why? because our elected officials are getting softer and softer on crime and criminals don't fear the law anymore. What happens when a law abiding citizen has to resort to deadly force to protect themselves? They have to go through the "justice system" at great expense and time. They may be exonerated, but the "justice system" is going to make sure they pay one way or another. All types of firearms have always been available, and never were much of a problem, until recently. The fault lies with Politicians, criminals, and the Left, not with law abiding citizens that have no choice but to take up arms to defend themselves. The Government's objective is to leave us powerless. We have the second amendment, but do we? If I ever have to resort to deadly force to protect myself or family, if there are no witnesses or cameras around,I'm outta there,I'm not calling anybody.

No less crazy than when they say "nothing is being done" while completely ignoring all the concessions gun owners have made over the decades.

They don’t prosecute criminals. Therefore taking responsibility for them is pointless.

The only thing that scares criminals is not knowing who's carrying a gun that's the way it should be
Criminals deserve no compassion, they will show you none.
“Shall not be infringed “ is about as straight forward as it gets. Any law that makes it harder for a law abiding citizen to bear arms is in direct violation of the second amendment.

Yet this country still has 20,000 plus gun laws. If it was really “shall not be infringed” there would be none

What about the militia part? Let’s just forget about that portion of it 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks Colion for speaking up for the 2 amendment.
I will say this over and over again. Never give up any of your right! Once they take part of your rights, they will take more!
100% truth.
Guilt By Association is a huge Left-wing tactic, and a major flaw in their logic.
Big Fan of your GTA work.
Background checks have never done anything against criminals or nutballs either. Another hoax from The Left.
What part of our right to bear arms don't you understand
They just want all gun owners to feel guilty enough to give up their guns
Nothing more nothing less
I’m NOT taking responsibility for criminal actions of others. We ALL have “free will”. Let’s each of us take responsibility for “our own” actions.

I think what Matthew doesn’t understand, is that gun owners are already INCREDIBLY responsible. But when you have a slap on the wrist followed by a rotating door for criminals…THEN you have problems.
And we're not responsible for what the bad guys do. Individuals are responsible for their own behavior. I don't think Matthew "gets it"

Same. I got guns when I was 10. Never did stupid shit with them.
Great idea! And actors can take responsibility for the violence they portray to the impressionable audience!
"Gun responsibility"? Lets simplify that to just responsibility. Hold criminals accountable for their crimes and quit blaming an object.
So right on
And, you know, letting murderers walk free over and over.

Not enough people spoke out against FDR locking up tens of thousands of Japanese Americans in race-based concentration camps, with no charge. Not enough people spoke out against FDR's gun laws.
