Stratego - When you are overconfident and winning but still lose 😅

Stratego is a two-player strategy game that is perfect for people of all ages. You can play with the traditional board or a smaller, compact version that is perfect for taking on the go.
The goal of the game is to capture your opponent's flag. To do this, you will use your army of soldiers, generals, and spies to outmaneuver and outsmart your opponent. The game is based on bluffing and strategy, and it is sure to provide hours of fun for players of all levels.
When I was a little kid, my sister and I got this tiny little game called Stratego. It was a small compact version of the big board game, but we loved it. It reminded us a little bit of chess, but with a more strategic feel.
After 30+ years, I found it on Google Play and started again my Journey of Conquest. I was excited to relive the childhood memories and play it again but this time, online.

Me again. Well you are going to lose some games and that is ok, all part of the learning curve. There were 2 things in this game that really stood out to me that were glaring issues:
1) memory errors: the hardest thing to get good at in this game is remembering pieces and also remembering what unknown pieces have moved. At the 11:00 mark of the video, you had a chance to capture the piece on D3 with your colonel, this moved and you would have been able to avoid a counteract from the enemy Marshall as he was out of position to stop your colonel from taking the D3 piece. And then there is the obvious memory error when you charged your colonel right into his Marshall.
2) Buried pieces: you had 2 pieces in the end game you needed to excavate your major and your general. When your enemy Marshall is revealed, it is often the best time to move your general for a counterattack. Your general had no ability to counterattack and defend which I think really hurt you in this game. Especially when you have an open flag, you have to extra wary of your opponent being down scouts or minors because when you’re down as much as your opponent was, you are more likely to take risks which is exactly what your opponent did in the end. It paid off though because your flag was in the 3rd row as opposed to the 4th which is more common to see.
Overall, good game though, I enjoy watching your content and hope that my feedback will help you down the line. I’ll need to find you on this app so that we can connect and play some time.

Yep, totally agree with your points... but it's like a lesson in humility and persistence. I should have played chilled and slow and he didn't give up till the end and that is admirable. Cudos to my opponent. 👌
