It would be interesting to know how much damage this does to those expensive lenses. It looks like it is just the filter on the front that breaks, as the image from the camera is still quite clear both through the broken glass and where the glass is missing. Do they just have to replace the filter? Does it sometimes throw off the alignment of the lens?
