The father of Bawumia left the UP when there was a plan to kill Nkrumah for which he refused to agree to the plot.
Bawumia's mother was an NDC member. The father Alhaji Bawumia was the chair of the Cocoa Board under the PNDC and became the Chairman of the council of State.
Bawumia's elder brother was the Ghana's ambassador to Burkina Faso during the government of president Mahama by which time Manasseh wrongly accused the president for accepting a Ford SUV as a bribe.
