I remember the Cleveland, Ohio show happening. I did not go, but I remember the flyers at the record stores and in the Scene Magazine. I also remember hearing the stories about it, especially with Integrity playing on the bill. I had "What We Believe" on cassette, but that spring and summer we had so many shows and I could not afford to attend them all.
I saw their final show in July 1991 at Spanky's Cafe. A brother from another mother and I drove from Las Vegas to Riverside. We also stopped at Zed's Records to purchase some vinyl before heading back to Vegas. Great times.
By far my favorite hardcore band. The funny thing is the first time I came across Insted was at a thrash show I went to go see Cryptic Slaughter and Holy Terror in 88 at the Balboa Theater in which I never understood why some of my best shows I went to were in fuck up neighborhoods. But I digress anyway, I was a thrasher in the 80's when I saw Insted I was blown away by their energy and pure honesty. Their music was hard heavy for their time and so fucking positive omg. From Insted I got into No For An Answer which later became Carry nation, Chorus, Chain of Strength and the whole new York Hardcore scene. Shaved my head swallowed Hardcore music from about late 88 till about late 90's.
never heard of them and discovered them by chance thanks to a hc compilation someone posted on u tube. great stuff. vynil has been repressed. proud youth.
Steve is on point in regard to "Staring Into The Sun." 🙄 I know there are people out there who like that "classic" and it's a mystery to me why. Delusional and in denial.
Thank you for posting this.
