Why I Interned on My Gap Year, Alena, Gap Year Exploration Month

After graduating from high school in June 2022, Alena decided to take a gap year before heading to Rice University in Fall 2023. During this incredible journey, she delved into the world of investor relations and communications at a biotech company, hosted radio shows in Cape Town, South Africa, and interned at 77 WABC radio in NYC. Backpacking through Europe and exploring South Africa were just a few highlights of her transformative experiences. Alena has not only grown personally and professionally but has also formed lasting connections in fields she is passionate about. She learned to embrace independence at just 17 and deepened her empathy for diverse cultures along the way.
