- The Prunus A-166 AM FM portable radio surprises by sporting a 22" FM antenna. This is unheard of in an inexpensive pocket radio. Does it pull in the stations along with it's DSP technology?

Features I like about this radio:
FM Reception is good.
22" antenna!
AM Reception is decent, logged a new station during the filming of this review.
Speaker audio is nice sounding at low to mid volume levels.
Nice white lettered dial on black. Easy to read.
Runs on AA batteries.
Captured battery door.
Carrying bag included! who does this? Nice touch.
Build quality is solid.
The AM tuner goes past 1620 and topped out at 1700 for me.
LED Tuning Indicator.
LED Battery level Indicator.
Features that could be added or improved on:
Carrying strap placement should be on left side of radio.
FM Stereo on headphones.
A better headphone experience, too much bass, esp. on AM.
Overall, this radio averages right around the price of a Sony P26. I still recommend this radio in its price range. I enjoy the longer FM antenna and nice DSP locking of FM stations. Has a lower tone quality on the speaker that does sound nice to the ears. So if your looking for something different, give this one a shot. I'm enjoying it.

Very good review, you cover the bases. I listen to talk radio and want a batt-powered radio for when I'm away from home. This might not be the best am sound, but it's got the indicator lights, the extended am range, longer antenna and extra umph for fm. I'm think it comes in a white case too. Thanks for your vid, which ran 30 mins so I think you must have been pleased by this radio's output.

Great Radio this thing is on par with Sony or Panasonic brands, This suits me fine since I buy value and performance over "brand" names.

If you press down right above the lines on thr bat compartment it kind of pops it open. Instead of trying to slide it open

Is a good radio, but when I had it next to the other top tens, plus honorable mentions, I could not fit it in the 2020 list.
Damn I recently bought the P-26 and SR-35 because I couldn’t decide and wanted both! Then I saw this radio. How does the Prunus compare to the SR-35?

Are the retekess a15 better in general?
Retekess can be a hit or miss these days. I love their TR605 and PR15 models. The TR103 is hot on the MW for such a small radio, but almost impossible to tune on SW.

No, really, it is large tree or shrub genus, grown for its flower or fruit
