- After over a century of absence, the return of wild plains bison to Banff National Park is a historic, ecological and cultural triumph. This remote camera and drone footage provides the first glimpse of how the bison are doing in the wilds of the backcountry since being released over two years ago.

My heart goes out to the calf with a broken front leg.
With the wolf right behind
Man I can’t get enough of these bison reintroduction projects! I’m constantly checking for more updates on banffs herd, keep the videos coming I love them!
From what I have read, there is now over one hundred!
Just heard about this on The Current. How awesome!
Thank you for sharing this with us. Let's keep it wild and free.
This is an excellent video - but more importantly - a phenomenal outcome to a very important undertaking with respect to ecosystem restoration. It really confuses me that there are people who have clicked “thumbs down” on this video. 🤔
16 to 50 great progress, they trive :)
Awesome, keep the updates coming
This makes me so happy to see!
very good footage
Great footage. Glad these animals were reintroduced!
Anyone else sad to see one bison limping and the baby has an issue too with one of his legs?
Yes, unfortunately. I wonder what happened.
Yes but I guess injuries happen and since the idea is to let them live free, they can't examine or treat them. I was wondering if it's some kind of hereditary issue since it seemed the momma with the bad leg was followed by the baby with the bad leg. Only a guess of course.
Good tune too!
Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
@@parkscanada You are welcome!
🙏 awe inspiring.
Glad to to see
Espectacular 🤝🇪🇸
❤❤❤
It looks easy, but Canada must have substantial winter range for even a small herd of big woolies.
My special needs son is glad the bison 🦬 were reintroduced and are thriving he is all for that! He also wonders if any Bigfoots 🦍🦧 have been seen in Banff National Park?
Hi there! Thanks to you both for watching 💚 There have indeed been some sightings of Bigfoots in Banff National Park 😉 You can view the images in this article: www.huffpost.com/archive/ca/entry/bigfoot-in-banff-sighting-prompts-bragging-from-parks-canada-p_n_2993059. Happy viewing!

Where's the calfs' mother?
That wolf is just waiting to pick off that injured calf
@@peterstraub4162 That's sad; but I suppose it's nature! [From an Aussie]
Nice video, but that is a lot of drone shots for a place where you aren't allowed to fly drones.
Why do you think they aren't allowed to fly drones there?
@@tomwolfe1983 Why do I think? I know that flying a drone in a National Park in Canada is illegal.
@@KevinOutdoors "Drone flying is a popular hobby for many people and may also be used for commercial purposes. However, Drones can pose risks to visitors, disturb wildlife and lead to negative experiences for other visitors to Banff National Park. For these reasons, Parks Canada strictly limits the use of drones.
Anyone caught operating a drone within park boundaries and without an approved permit may result in law enforcement action and a fine of up to $25,000."
From: www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/banff/info/permis-permit/drone
In other words if you have a permit you can fly a drone in a national park.
I am a licensed drone pilot here in Canada. The airspace over National Parks in Canada is a strict 'no-fly zone'. The rationale provided is to not disturb park visitors or wildlife and it is extremely difficult to get a permit. The point I am making is that it is a bit hypocritical for parks staff to be using drones for their own commercial use.
