Andrew Hooven I think they were there for familiarity. They act as emcees for all of the Supernatural cons. Might be that they have a contract to be at all conventions. Rich and Rob are also better qualified than most ComiCon staff to rein in Jared when he derails a panel. Rich and Rob are fan favorites, probably due to their easy rapport with each other and the audience. Given the size of their characters' roles on the show, their involvement may not make sense, but these two are at the heart of the SPN family.

They might only have been in a few episodes, but the ones they were in were fan favourites (Tall Tales, Monster at the End of this Book, Changing Channels, Mystery Spot, Swan Song etc). So they were high impact, and the guys also have great personalities so they became very popular.
Rob and Richard are actually SPN fan convention Official Hosts... You will always see them moderating the SPN conventions.. It makes sense! They are The Lord and one of his Arcangels
