You're absolutely right but in my case, I'll still prefer modular helmets because i wear spectacles and sometimes it gets very difficult to breath while riding bike in full face(and no, just lifting up the visor doesn't help) So it's better for me to just use it as a half face or full face whenever in need.
I wear glasses that is the only reason I am using a modular helmet. With full face before removing the helmet I have to remove the glasses from outside the helmet and the same way wear glasses after wearing the helmet which becomes a tad bit uncomfortable experience for me. I get what you are saying is true but the condition is like that with me.
Same problem....yaar.... Aur raat mai bhi bahut problem hota hai... Light refrection se kuch dikai nahi deta... Helmet ka glass utha ke chalana padta hai.... 🥺🥺
Agree with everything. However after 20 years of riding (and a few crashes) I have gravitated towards the modular helmets. Reason being: 1) I mostly cruise. No hyper riding and very rare off roading. 2) There are very few things which come close to the primal joy of a blast of wind in my face. For me that is the essence of riding. 3) I need to wear spectacles 24x7 and I dont like to remove them often. Becomes a tad easier with modular helmets especially with gloves. 4) I have broad cheek bones. The extra flexibility of the modular makes it easier to get into. 5) Dont use a Go Pro on my helmet. So as long as you tick the above boxes and are ride responsibly, modulars arent too bad.
I strongly agree with your 2nd point. I too love the wind blasting on my face when riding. In closed helmets I don't get the pleasure of riding. Wind blast is something that gives me joy of riding. Some people like complete silence in their helmets but I feel that's just like being in car without feeling the environment around you. That's why I always like modular helmets.
@@aBhi-oz4hu SMK Glide is the best at that price point. All modular helmets are a bit heavy so don't mind their weight. I am also going to buy the same. There is one more new option at that price point - Nikko modular helmet. Its a Taiwanese company. Similar features. But I am not considering it as its spare parts are not easily available. SMK parts can be bought online from so many websites.
For touring safety yes, but for regular commute I prefer the modular, because when you sit in hot traffic its so much better to open the front and get some cool air in.
I do agree with you. But, i already bought a modular one. It's definitely a big help for city rides. If people are considering wearing a half face helmet.. definitely a better bet. I remove the front when I am trotting in alleys or with slow/stop go traffic. However, when I am on the move I always have it set up on the full face. I hope it's enough.
Yup... I don't get the hate of some people against these modulars. They talk trash against modulars, but seems to be fine with half-face. They also talk like full face is the only safe type of helmet, like yeah it does offer the greatest protection, but it doesn't mean that the other two are unsafe. I'm also tired of their reasoning line: "And that's why racers wear full face", of course they should be, but am I a racer though? To me, Protection always comes with safety vs comfort vs convenience, at best you can only get 2 of the 3. It will always boils down to what fits your style the most.
I have been using a HJC IS Max II modular. I bought the modular helmet for the convenience. I wear glasses and it is easier to take on and take off. But safety >> convenience. Also, it is extremely heavy, and 5-6 hours later, shoulder pains. Also on offroads, it becomes quite difficult, due to the weight (1800g + weight of the V6 BT). Have been researching ADV helmets and will probably go for a full face ADV style helmet soon (LS2 or bell). Thank you for creating this video!
The problem with me is that i wear spectacle and every time if i need to remove, i have to remove my specs and vice versa ....when putting on. I am not able to use my Hydration bag too because of the full face. The cheshma stick also hurts and it is very difficult to glide the chesma in place after u put on your helmet.
