This was actually really great info for me. Some SHOULD be common sense, but for someone like me with little to no training, it's a process and method I can incorporate into my plans.
I love these types of videos, have you ever considered doing an aid-memoir pocket book with this kind of stuff in, triage guides, normal pulse and breathing raates, etc?
another good tip in the MCI bags there's ribbons and when you put the ribbons on the patients green, yellow, red, black rip off the tag end and keep it so if a head count is needed you can count the tag ends. Great Video
So that's what was going on... I was actually on a bus that rolled over in April 2016, and actually laughed when you mentioned the bus. Thanks for explaining the process. If you are curious about the full story let me know. Thanks for doing what you do.
You did a great job of explaining it simply and understandably. I like the SALT system too for its simplicity, however, here and like most of the USA they prefer the START system and it is so much more work then it needs to be. Question, do you teach, if not you should get your cert to do so because your very good at it. I had a great EMT teacher who could explain it well and loved students who were interactive. I was very interactive and it made class fun for us both.
Great info, thanks. I'm only BLS certified, and have wondered what I'd do if I came upon a mass accident or mall shooting incident. This gives me useful guidelines to make a best guess about how to proceed, even though I'm not an EMT, until ALS folks get there. I'd like to hear you do a vid for folks like me (basic certification only) on the best way to prepare ourselves for situations that might exceed the kinds of training generally available to the public (i.e., short of college courses to become an EMT). Your videos are certainly a big step in that direction. But, is preparing in this way just a false hope for us unless we go through a two year program?
On the first method to get people to walk or wave to you, that is fine and all. However the situation will dictate whether or not ambulant patients need to be seen last (smoke inhalation comes to mind) crush injuries that don't involve the legs... other than that I think this is a better system. I know there is only so much you can cover in 6 mins. Thank you for what you do.
Now when you have walking wounded you have assist those that are in distress. The walking wounded can be treated and help with further assisted. As for the rest I agree.
