EJ R, la tonalità è giusta all'inizio, ma, subito prima di "è la morte", l'orchestra compie una modulazione diversa da quanto previsto in partitura, che abbassa le ultime battute di mezzo tono. Così i due si naturali finali diventano si bemolli.
Quale omaggio migliore si poteva fare ad UMBERTO GIORDANO..... autore di questa meravigliosa opera lirica. Due voci sublimi!!!!!!! Qui il MARIO è allo zenit. Quanta emozione e turbameto ha una voce in sé, ha il potere di farci sognare di vivere in un mondo dove ancora c'è la passione, il cuore e l'amore. Povera la nostra LIRICA.... Dove sei?? Sei stata soppiantata dagli influencer, dai cium cium e via tutti con le braccia alzate...a saltellare. Povero mondo. Consoliamoci con questi bei ricordi!!!!
Sono andata alla ricerca di altre voci del passato remoto e passato prossimo ma come la sua voce la voce di Mario del Monaco non ce n'è sublime che arriva nel profondo e non si dimentica

Mario del Monaco? Escludiamo Caruso, non paragonabile per il tempo remoto a cui appartiene,per me è stato e rimane il più grande tenore di sempre. Per la voce di grande interprete drammatico, tutti quelli che vogliono avvicinarcisi, si bruciano. Eccelso!!!!

In which year was it recorded? The film looks old, Monaco looks very young. This duet is absolutely dull - unless it is sang by great singers. My favourite Chenier is Corelli but Monaco is also great. It's question of taste. But I like his pianos is this finale.
This is a film of the opera made by RAI in October 1955. I bought it and have rarely used it since. The singing and acting is excellent, but the synching is awful which impairs the realism .Also its in poor B&W with no sub titles. i believe it was subsequently issued in sound only on CD which to my mind would be a better option.

Quando Del Monaco non presenta particolari problemi caso strano non è mai dal vivo. E comunque anche in registrazione urlacci a non finire. Grande uomo marketing il Del Monaco. Per fortuna ci sono stati cantanti come Pertile e Corelli che davvero erano fuoriclasse.
La Stella una grande come lo è stata la Rosanna Carteri Rina Gigli Maria Caniglia Lina Bruna Rasa Renata Tebaldi Anna Moffo Leyla Gencer Virginia Zeani Rosa Ponselle Maria Callas Celestina Boninsegna Eleanor Steber Kirsten Flagstad mi fermo qui.

This is not “live” singing. They’re lip syncing to a pre-recorded track, made by them of course. Operatic lip-syncing is totally annoying, and ludicrous to boot. That being said, their singing here, studio recording though it may be, is quite spectacular! I just listen and don’t watch.
Your atrocious,with your withering comments on anything to do with del monaco,you obviously know very little about great dramatic singing,seeing as you alone on any comments you make,are the only one to constantly find fault with anything he sings,while al most everyone else disagrees with you,sad really
This is extraordinary singing from both.. Del Monico.. is fabulous.. and so is Stella.. I have always liked her voice.

Yes but this is taken from the recorded movie,i have it on dvd,the tebaldi is from a live performance and del monaco was not at his best that night

It skipped half the duet for me...these are great singers though..
Great singing, however this recording is sharp, so it is really off pitch.
This is a neat performance in many ways- but it sure looks like lip syncing, which I never enjoy as much as live, "real" performance.
It's a movie. I have the DVD. :)
