The cap on mine is the same - I get the impression the ability to be able to rotate it while on is normal for the design. I do suffer from higher ink evaporation with mine than other snap cap pens. One weak point on mine is at some point in the past the clip ring has come off (presumably cracked or something) Got mine from one of the pre-covid London Pen Shows. and was replaced with a sprung steel one so no hallmarks on my pen. Yard-o-Led did offer to fix that but it the hallmarks would be for when the repair would have been done, so I decided to keep as is.

I agree that sterling silver grips tend to be less slippery than other metal grips.
