Oh, they definitely stopped for a while. They sold out pretty hardcore and haven't really recovered since. They've been alright for the last couple of years, but in sort of a regressed state from their old days despite clearly aiming for a similar sound.
@@radicalstanza3614 even tho they have been thru changes, the rich usage of chords and harmonies that miya writes, the dynamic basslines of yukke, complex rythms from sato and extreme vocals (tatsurou sings every disc better, in my opinion) are always there, they learned more screaming, implemented techno sounds and kept melting different sounds with kinda jazzy styles. At least, I think so
@@akatsukiyukke i also feel like the way they took some years ago was for a search of an innovative sound and this is the only way to evolve as a band. I didn't like it at all but i wasn't bad at all. Since then i was expecting an album that will mash up all their influences and i guess this one is a pretty good start. The next one will certainly be better and better. Anyway having new screams of Tatsurou is a delightful pleasure !
I don't listen to them as regularly anymore as 10-12 years ago, but I always find my way back to them every once in a while... it still amazes me how they manage to evolve their sound while still staying true to themselves... great song!

I've recently listened to every one of their songs (including demos, B-sides, covers and self-covers on UA-cam, Soundcloud and Spotify), and as much as I like their best work, I personally don't think all of their songs are amazing at all. For the most part, MUCC are average at best. Kyutai is one of my all time favourite albums. As far as MUCC's work goes, this is followed by Shion and Shin Homura Uta. Everything else has just left me really underwhelmed and unimpressed. They drop these awesome riffs and then instead of following through, they default to the same sound over and over again. Some songs even sound like rip-offs of their own previous tracks. Not to shit on the band, because I think they're capable of producing amazing music (Justice being a good example of that), but I just feel like it's few and far between.
