- This is the first ZV450MW8A that I have seen. It looks simular to the ZV457MG9A that you are all so used to seeing. It does suffer from the exact issues that the 427, and 457 suffer from. The oxidized mode select switch and the sus-con capacitors.

Thank you for the video! One tip: We started with cleaning the prism, IR emitter and that did the trick. Before that, unit was shutting off after exactly six seconds, without fail.

you love fixing those VCR's lol i always took them apart and yeah could change a belt or un jam it but when it wouldn't play and eat tapes never knew how to fix it great thorough repair

Great video! I've had the experience where ESR testers will test fine with SMT caps on those logic boards, but then if you actually remove the caps and check them out of circuit, they can be completely open or have an ESR of 30 or more.
So many times there are several capacitors in parallel that will cause a low ESR reading until they are removed.
You wouldn’t believe what I get sent, consoles in envelopes, graphics cards worth upwards of £500 sent in tissue paper and taped up. Can’t believe how people send things then moan when they arrive broken that they have to make a claim lol. Fostrex vintage tape machine, sent in a 1 layer cardboard box, thing was ruined and it weighs like 40kg 😭 Thanks for the video again Norcal 👍

It really astounds me that so many people in this day and age still don't bother to take the time nor do they understand how to properly or securely package an item for shipping. A good example of secure packaging would include double-boxing, lots of strong tape, and plenty of bubble wrap / extra material (e.g. foam peanuts or screwed up paper) inside the box (to not only protect valuable and/or fragile items but also to stop them moving around). And that's just for starters.

Great video as always 👍 , I have one of these units (Toshiba in the UK) that will not open the DVD tray on first request either on the unit or remote you can hear a low clunk as it tries . Normally operates on the second or third attempt, any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

Thanks for the video. You do great work. I have the exact same unit with the same problem. I cleaned the sensors from the top, but did not pull completely apart as you did. I just don't feel comfortable doing that. Do you still do repairs and what would you charge for this service? I hate to add to the landfill. Thanks so much for your time.
