At my first day po. Wala pa po ako feature tag. Nagsikap po talaga akong magsudden classes and I did all my very best and luckily I gained their favorite. At my 2nd day it's about my 10th sudden lesson, I only have 1 booked lesson that time. I received a feature tag from NativeCamp saying free reservation flag, starting from there, I received a lot of bookings and doing my very best as my trial class. Thank you Teacha Karen it's my 3rd day today. You really help me a lot po. From my EPT up to my demo up to now. Thank you. You are truly a blessings to us.

All of the top performers on Native Camp (170-190 bookings) have videos with really dark lighting, the audio is really poor. Most of them aren't native speakers either and their pronunciation is quite bad in many cases and they're reading from a script. It's bizarre. It's like they took all of the Native Camp advice and did the opposite. But I'm glad I took the extra time to make a semi decent video, good sound/lighting, well rehearsed with good energy. Let's just hope it pays off. I'm currently just trying to do as many sudden lessons as I can.
i’ve noticed that too! kinda weird huh? i just got accepted today. i took the extra mile in adding japanese titles and background music. hope it works out! how is it goin for you so far, have you managed to get some regular students? :)
@@anastasiasaratlic7019 Japanese titles is a really good idea, but I'd worry that I had the wrong meaning. You see all these stories of people that have gotten tattoos with Chinese symbols thinking the mean 'love' or 'hope' or something equally lame but turns out it says 'biscuit tin' or something equally odd. But yeah, I hope it works out for you. I'm a bit disappointed to be honest, at the start I should have done more sudden lessons I think, but where I am, even if I had 40 hours of booked lessons, I still wouldn't break minimum wage. But that's not the purpose for me, it's simply to gain experience as my TEFL didn't come with any practical training. My goal is to ultimately find a school here to teach in and to have my own students from the area, I'm putting up free ads etc. I'm not sure where you live, but for me I think that the biggest problem is that I'm too expensive on Native Camp, it looks like the case that all the top teachers on here are doing lessons for peanuts. I mean, what Karen talks about for booked lessons is peanuts, I'm charging double that! So as a result I've had hardly any. NOTE Something to be very careful of is that students can book a lesson 5 or 10 minutes before the lesson starts. If you say that you're available then you need to be on STANDBY. I've been charged a cancellation fee twice because this has happened. I've popped out for a cup of tea and someone has booked. Just be aware that if you aren't in front of your computer, change your schedule to un-available. Otherwise, I've loved most of it so far. It's just really good fun. Everyone has been lovely so far, and some people I've had such a good time with that they've logged straight back in after the lesson. I've had 1 woman 2x that I think is depressed and just wants to talk to someone. Bit weird. She wants a free discussion, but doesn't want to talk about anything that you propose. Do you remember the cleaning lady in Family Guy that just says 'no' all the time? A bit like her.
@@sectionq1 thank you so much for taking the time in giving me your insight! i agree on the title part - it is a bit risky, but i think google translate has improved a lot honestly. plus i tried to film myself saying full sentences - so that i could translate full sentences to japanese. maybe it gets messed up in some parts, but hopefully the effort i put in can be acknowledged. i’m from serbia and here i think it is 1.50 USD for sudden and 2.30 USD for booked, based on the videos of serbian NC teachers i’ve watched. it’s not much and pretty similar to what teach Karen is earning, i think..? honestly, NC really doesn’t pay much, and i went into this knowing that. i’m thinking of having it as a side hussle tho, since i have 3 job interviews today and tomorrow in a totally different field. like you said, i too feel like i could gain some experience in teaching. who knows what the future might hold, i might just need it some day!

You'll find a lot of your lessons will just be free conversation, so what you could do is ask someone if your translations are ok. Honestly, most of the people I've met have been great and I bet half of them would have been really pleased to help with something like that. You can make any corrections and re-upload your video whenever you want I think. Some platforms seem to be funny about that but NC not so much. I'm going to redo mine I think, now I've got a better sense of what the students really want from a teacher. My video was pretty general, and I now know that some of what I said was kind of BS on this platform. I mentioned writing in my video for example, but of course in NC that's not a thing. Anyway, curious to know how you get on. You're the first person I've spoken to who's embarking on the same adventure! hahaha

Beware. Native Camp failed to pay me, closed my account, and then claimed they "cannot pay me because I do not have an account!" I have filed a complaint with the authorities, but I want to warn everyone I can to avoid dealing with this sleazy company. They break US independent contractor laws by apparently using AI that detects if you are smiling enough (and then pushes a pop-up to tell you to smile), tells you to ask the student's permission to have a sip of water, etc. The pay is extremely low, and less than the minimum wage in the area I am from. Native Camp may steal part of your pay, claiming you cancelled a class when you did not. This is not something I agreed to in my contract. When you try to communicate with them, you get the run-around. There is no phone number to call, so your only recourse is to go to the authorities. If you have been mistreated by Native Camp, please file a complaint. This fraudulent activity must be stopped.

I was connected with a student who behaved really bad, started talking about murder and asking weather I was shocked by the things he had said. I feel kinda disappointed. Have such things ever happened to you? And how to react to them?
Yes, these are things that are inevitable and unpredictable. You just have to be ready. This may be every ESL teacher's nightmare but it can happen to anyone. You gotta learn how to control where the conversation goes instead of the student doing so. Try to maintain a neutral reaction and redirect the conversation back to the lesson
I get sudden classes all the time, so does it make sense to do the free classes? Would I get paid by NC to do the free classes? If so, would I be paid the sudden or booked rate?

You have to work for a Callan accredited school like Native Camp to have access to those. You might want to try Eiken, the materiala are free from their website

Just patiently wait, that's all we could do. Take sudden classes and turn them to regular students. You may also try to improve your self-introduction / teaching profile

There's always hope my friend. I suggest take sudden classes first and turn them to booked classes/regulars.

yes you can retake any time. you just don't know which admin you'll be assigned to (random)

Yes you may if you join campaigns. There is no way for us to request for a tag, it's determined and made by NC admins.
