@@prunabluepepper Indeed, though it is slightly annoying since it will be covered in symbols complaining about being flooded. Honestly, given the number of planks his bridge needed, he may as well have actually just started the forester first.
lol I know they watch RCE because in an earlier build he kept making jokes about the beavers jerking off when they sleep outside and they changed the sleeping animation so it doesn’t look suggestive.
Unfortunately for your metrics, I've already bought Timberborn. I did click through the link anyway if that helps. But if Mechanistry is paying attention- I promise it's worth sponsoring Skye! His videos really help me stay engaged with the game and keep it fresh between updates. He has the coolest ideas I'd never have thought of, and he inspires me to bigger and better beaver builds! This means if you ever launch a DLC expansion, I'm much more likely to buy it thanks to Skye's hard work, and I doubt I'm the only one.
I built a similar, underwater city and the one piece of advice I can give is to include pillars of dirt that go from the overhead water into the ground where crops and trees are growing. This will allow everything to be watered automatically through natural dispersion of the water instead of needing water dumps. It takes up a bit of room and may not be a visually appealing, but frees up beavers and saves on evaporation.
I recommend planting mangrove trees for cutting. Not as good as oaks but are better than pines. with the wide areas of shallow water allows you great access to logs without using the limited land on islands for trees. Maybe leave some not for cutting for the fruit. Love your series', excited to see how you play the Iron Teeth. As it is the faction I normally play.
You could put two beavers in the farm house set to pick and on beaver set in the other farm house to plant. This will help with getting more food that is ready to be picked.
I think this map was the first one I ever saw you do and now the next time you do it, you have a series sponsorship from the Devs. Well done, Skye! It's like coming home.
My immediate thought when I saw that new map was "I was actually imagining making a map like that myself for an interesting change in design style." My thoughts were to have a bit more emphasis on the aquatic farm houses, and being able to later put stuff like housing production buildings on platforms in the middle of the water and such. That is, to make it more of a beaver-like settlement (most of the maps tend to encourage/direct players to build like humans, rather than truly taking advantage of the ways beavers are different, like underwater farms and the fact that they are actually BETTER OFF going down stairs into an underwater path than they are using an actual bridge, at least so long as said water isn't polluted).
In the North East section of your irrigation pond, there is one tile that is sticking out, which is going to hurt you with evaporation. I would add a levee there to reduce water evaporation.
But SKYE !!!! should've build those levies on the east side further away, most of Your berries will die during badtide. Seriously tho, good to see new series and good to see update 6 released in full. Keep it up dude and say hello to Picture Perfect !
Fantastic start! I can't wait to see what you get up to! I'm so glad the devs know what an asset you are and how many people you've inspired to pick up this game!
Woohoo, new map, new series, new plans! I clicked the link, but i bought Timberborn a couple of weeks back entirely due to you, and the actual real engineering you've done in all your series.
I love watching your insane ideas come to life and be slowly built throughout your series. I am so happy you are being sponsored, you absolutely deserve it! Looking forward to watching the series develop. The whole Atlantis idea sounds incredibly fascinating.
Skye good choice in terms of chosing map. I wonder how long will you survive without getting any beaver contaminated. Expected answer Skye: if you want find out you have to come back for the next one and the one after that and the one after that and so on. Surprise me😂
"and we are safe from the bad tides" are those going to be famous last words lol, soooo looking forward to the new series and what wonders are you going to surprise us with this time :). hiya picture from me and April
Just binged Helix and Mountain Range. Heard about Skye from disturbed simulations. Really enjoy this channel and so glad I found it. Don’t even play timberborn yet and I already love it. I also follow Biffa and city planner plays who also have timberborn content.
Again, congratulations on the sponsorship - and this series looks like a lot of fun. It tempts me to fire up the game again but I've already killed too many beavers in the past...
Great to see the new series start straight away, One problem with the first episode tho…….. Dear Skye, my wife and I refer to your channel as Picture Giggles, but there were far too few - if any - giggles in this episode. Look, I appreciate that you’re not that funny but Picture giggling makes listening to you worthwhile. ( said in your complaining voice but with a Brummie accent) On a more serious note, keep up the good work, you bring a smile to our faces every day 😁
Dear Skye, I'm sure you've already thought of them, but in case you haven't I'd just like to remind you that the Iron Teeth can plant Mangrove trees, which work particularly well on Thousand Islands with all the large shallow areas you'll likely cover in water 😁 Also really curious to find out if Beavlantis will have a sneaky entrance or two, or if you plan to seal it completely, but I guess I'll find that out later down the line 😉
I'm excited to see what you do on this map. I ended up with a way too elaborate sluice - dam construction spanning half the map. The amount of water you've got to deal with here is a very cool challenge. I'm sure you're going to be building something pretty special on this map. Dare I say it? I dare. Multi-layered water storage and power supply all in one.
Skye brought me back to timberborn after a long hiatus because I couldn't think of anything to do... something something baps. and now I'm terraforming more than ever. SPONSOR THIS MAN! XD
Glad to see what i assume is the start of an epic build! Cant wait to see what crazy stuff you come up with! Oh btw thanks for that totally non special non magical timberborn, was exactly what one needed to start playing with my own beavers ;) lol
I love to see sky play bcs he knows what he doing, and that is awesome bcs in timberborn you always stressed about the beevers ding and shit, for me is só confortable to what, keep the good work sky.
I really love Timberborn! I have bought it almost simultainously with Anno 1800. But I play Timberborn way more. Timberborn is just right (not too complicated/time consuming but also not too easy) (you can play in 1 Savegame vor 2 Days or 20)
I leteraly started a run on thousand islands on the experimental branch a few days before you dropped this video, and I can say with full confidence, It is scarry how simmular our starts were. Then again its probably just the way the map was desinged.
If the devs read these. Make covered water. In a pipe for instance. Whether covered by a levee or impermeable tile immune to evaporation. If the tile is impermeable evaporation shouldn’t be able to get out of it. Idk if thats a thing they can do or not but would be cool. You could potentially cover a reservoir with impermeable tiles and have no evaporation from it
Imagines sky googling how to make a dome with squares and telling the Devs we need to be able to make glass... There is sand in rivers .. Hail lord of the Beavers ..
The newly added Oaks to the Map make it way easier! My first Bad Tide in Hard Mode (and the old Version of the map) flooded right through my colony. Beavers thankfully survived because I ordered them to stay ibdoors and wait it out😀

Hey Skye, just finished this first episode and am really excited to see what you can do with it! I am curious about the level on your floodgates, and exactly after reading my own comment, figure you will probably be installing a water meter to control them... Lol. Keep up the amazing content!
Skye on Episode 1: So anyways, we want to build these water storages to last the drought Skye on Episode 30: So that's why the lady beavers walk all funny after they visit big one...
On your farmers, have 2 in a house prioritizing harvest and one prioritizing planting. The one planter will keep up behind the harvesters, and the whole thing is way more efficient.
Human brain is extraordinary. 14:57 You had your second to think where to put the platforms and it turnes out to be in one of the most efficient places. With the same T bridge, you could go forward up to 4 tiles using the same number of platforms. Going just one tile back would require 1 more platform to build. And now tell me, that you were calculating that in your mind, rather than eyeballing it :D
i suggest you put levees with some flood gates to control the water more on the side and make it so you do not have to have that third pump in for now, you can then expand it in droves to start keeping large swathes of water that you can drain into your main area while you are building up

@@SephirothRyu yeah, but only until you replace it.
@@prunabluepepper True. I don't think it is necessary unless you are using a custom map made to be as hard as possible, but it does work.

I meant it's enough to protect our survival .. contamination could still do a lot of damage .. just not terminal damage :)
