    Im 28, and this video brings back alot of memories for me... I listened to the canucks pretty religously on the radio (no tv) from about 91-94 and wow what an impact this guy had... I've still got the 94 final game on VHS somewhere back at the folks place...
    I met Jim Robson in person too one time pumped some gas for his little 14' aluminum boat when he pulled into thetis Island back in the mid 90's. swiped the visa, sure enough "James Robson" the voice of the vancouver canucks cknw98...

    I grew up watching him. In my opinion he is the best player ever. He was the best while he played, and he played when the NHL was the hardest. Before his time, the game was easier. After he retired, the rules were changed to make it easier. He was the best. (of course this is my opinion heh)

    Absolutely the greatest Canuck of all time. He's a guy who nobody will ever be able to say, there's a "next" of. We heard Lindros was "the next" Gretzky, and then it was Crosby was "the next one." Leech, when he first came into the league was "the next" Orr. There will never be a "next" Pavel Bure.

    i KNOW ITS ABOUT TIME THEY RECOGNIZED WHAT A TELENT HE WAS, TOO BAD WE MIGHT NOT HAVE A HOCKEY SEASON THOUGH, BUT TO ME HE WAS LIKE THE HUMAN HIGHLIGHT FILM OF HOCKEY, EVEN AT AWAY GAMES THE FANS STOOD UP WONDERING WHAT THE ROCKET WOULD DO NEXT, JUST AN AMAZING TALENT. tHANKS.

    ahhh that remember the good old days...I was young and collecting hockey cards,and to have Pavel Bure cards was almost an exploits! Friends were jealous,some had better cards...we were bragging about it and stuff,ah memories hehe.

    BEST HOCKEY PLAYER EVER.
    I'm Canadian and I love Gretzky, Howe and Orr but that Russian is the greatest hockey talent (not the most points, seasons or personalities) ever. Orr was the only player that even came close to generating the kind of excitement Bure did.
    Watch his highlights, all five defensive players in their own zone and he dips and doodles around and somehow manages to go in on goal all alone like it was a breakaway.

  • @redvlady
    @redvlady 16 років тому

    Russia is an extreme country and very intense, Pavel and Ovechkin both have that extreme on the edge fire burning, and are not afraid to show it. But Pavel had more obstacles to break, and there were more Don Cherries who he was going to prove wrong! all these guys have a story, but Pavel's is the most amazing to me. What a determination!

  • @manuraiders

    Bure will always be the greatest Canuck ever, yes he had disagreements with the management , but for the life of me why isnt he in the Hall Of Fame. Nobody brought the fans out of their seats, even away games. This is an injustice.

    both were great, u can't compare them, they both had their own style. Bure had the speed and moves, and Gretzky had the vision and ability to find openings and space where nobody else could. seriously u cant say one is better than the other, just say that they were both great players who were great in different ways.

    That very night:
    "Pavel Bure had been subject to several cheap shots during the course of the game that went unpenalized, received a cross check from Craig Ludwig. When he was knocked to his knees, Bure received a whallop from Dallas tough guy Shane Churla. Referee Andy Van Hellemond did not see the cross check or the punch from Churla, so Pavel Bure took things into his own hands; or shall we say took things into his own elbow. Bure leveled Churla with a wild elbow to his jaw." - May 4, 1994

    @jordanf101 A lot of Russian and Eastern European players were drafted late in the 80's and 90's, namely because the players would have to defect from their home countries due to the Cold War, and the chance of that happening wasn't good at all, not to mention the skepticism to adjust to the North American style of play

    The context of the hit was determination... that playoff series vs. Dallas he was getting hit (often without the puck) to keep him out of the game. He got fed up and took it out on one of the guys running around... at 5'10'' and known as a sniper? Good for him... especially since he got away with it (ah, the good old 1 referee system :P)

    @tm1394 > Bure had back to back 58 and 59 goal seasons for the Panthers and his stats indicate he belongs. Being a true Canuck doesnt make you a Hall of Famer, its your talent that does and even though his career was cut way short because of his knees , players with lesser stats and less ability are in. There is no telling what his total would have been if not for the 5 knee operations, but admittingly maybe he wasnt a true Canuck, but a great hockey player.

    @tarimaa1 Normally what happens when you have a goal scorer is that he, well, scores a lot of goals. No one ever criticized Bobby Hull for being a puck hog. People just want a reason to complain about Bure because he was flashy. Would you have a guy who scores 50 goals try to pass? Or would you rather watch him speed past the D and score? I love how some people think scoring goals is bad team play.

  • @tarimaa1
    @tarimaa1 12 років тому

    @ARod016 ,
    You don't understand my point, that;s great that pavel was a goal scorer, last time I checked it was a point for a goal and a point for a assist, how many times did bure try to take a whole team by himself? lots of time and he didn't always score.How many cups did Bure have? is Bure in the hall of fame? ask yourself this his was a goal scorer and that's all he was there is more to hockey then scoring goals, there's hitting, passing, grinding and so on it takes a team.
