    This is USEFUL! So so so many music youtuber’s assume that people know some basic stuff... but where will they learn that? Explaining the basics like audio interface and which cables they need is gold. Really wish I had this when I started two years ago, but I’m just glad it exists for beginners! Definitely gonna send this to people when they need to know what to get

    The Focusrite interface has two outputs at the back (L and R) for monitors. But what if you have monitors that only have 1 output? Like a 3.5mm cable. Do you connect it on the front like you did with the headphones on this video, would that produce the same sound quality?

    I'm a dinosaur from the early days of midi, getting back into home recording...wow, have things changed. I found this video to be amazingly helpful. My question is in regards to audio. If you have multiple audio producing devices, does your audio interface need numerous inputs? Or, should you run separate audio outs into a mixer and send the outs of the mixer to the audio interface??

    • @SanjayC
      @SanjayC  4 роки тому +4

      Hi Nancy. You can do it both ways. Using a mixer may be more cost-effective since multiple input mixers are typically cheaper than multi-input audio interfaces. If you really want to go the audio interface route the Audiofuse 8Pre by Arturia is a good choice and isn't crazy expensive

Is it a custom build or are there actually units out there with an extended pull-out shelf?

      @@SanjayC not yet sanjay. Till now I have been creating small 1 hour courses which has helped me a lot. But now I'm now working on making comprehensive guide - 75 hour course on music production. I have filmed about 35 percent of the course. When I finish the rest I will definitely email you sanjay.
      I'm making this 75 hour course which includes learning the ins and outs of ableton, going over every plugin and every effect, making their first beat in ableton, drum programming for (pop, hiphop, trap, trance, funk, rock) -each includes 15 individual rythms, introduction to sound design, what is reverb and types of reverb and how to emulate them,compression-types and functions indepth, mixing, mastering,and some extras like podcast editing, sound design for video.
      Till now all the courses I published are 1 hour and 30 mins courses on small topics related to music production. I offered them for free for one month and got 2000 emails from people who enrolled after that I published two more courses and made them paid.
      Now I'm making this giant course to make it paid and drop small free courses continuously along the way to collect emails to redirect them to the giant course
      So once I finish this mega music production 101 course I will defined contact you sanjay. Nothing I have done would be possible without your channel feeding me inspiration every week.
      Thank you so much. Much love brother.

    Don't forget to always mention the Free Voicemeter Banana for Virtual external output, without which the keyboard controllers cannot work. I am glad I found it and it didn't frustrate me so much, but I have seen reviews where some who are not good at research had to hire someone to install such virtual meter or driver. It is the most essential tool for everyone on Windows.

    As always another fantastic, informative video Sanjay! Thank you for taking the time to break it all down. Most of this I've figured out but I always enjoy your honest unbiased comments. One thing I would love to see since you have a true knack for teaching/instructing is a mini series of making a song from start to finish. Using the basics, for example, create a cover of a popular song, where to start, step by step laying down the tracks, adjusting the sounds, adding vocals, mixing the vocals, backing vocals to sound similar to the original song, etc. I haven't see anyone do something like this and it would be helpful for me along with probably many other people. Maybe like a 101 Boot Camp. Preferably in Logic Pro : )

    • @SanjayC
      @SanjayC  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you Rentonbroadway! I've got some great ideas for song breakdowns. Hope to get to it soon. But I still need to learn Logic better. So I may do them in Ableton. But I'll try to make them work for any DAW

    Thanks Sanjay for a very decent video regarding the basics, most of which I already knew, but I'm sure helped tons of others who didn't. But I was looking for instructions on a subject that you briefly mentioned, but didn't actually touch on or explain how to do. So before I search your other videos for the proper procedure, I hope you can help me out with my current setup.
    I recently purchased a terrific audio interface that has been working wonderfully to play back the patches on both my keyboard and my synth in Cubase. However, today I finally received a MIDI Host unit that I was hoping to use to play the sounds on my synth as a slave to my larger keyboard as a master. I connected everything this way: USB out from Master keyboard to USB in of MIDI Host unit; MIDI Out from Host unit to MIDI In of Interface: MIDI Out of Interface to MIDI In of Synth (Slave). However, I must have done something wrong, or missed something, because the Master keyboard is not triggering the Slave synth.
    So, if you have any tips, suggestions, or advice on what I am doing wrong or need to do differently with the gear that I already have, it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, after I stop to have dinner I will check out some of your other tutorials (now that I have subscribed) to see if you have already touched on my topic. Thanks.
