Nice one! It is good to expand the boundaries :) And I'm sure whisky tastes good after all! :) Fair winds!

Lovely episode! Great narration, music and also so good to see our favourite stretch of water on the west coast of Scotland. The Sound of Luing ❤

06:31 The southern island of The Garvellach group, Eileach-an-Naoimh (Rock of the Saint) can be said to be a holy isle as St. Brendan's Monastery was established there in AD 542.
St. Columba the founder of the Abbey on Iona would spend time on the island in quiet retreat sometimes in the company of his mother Eithne (not sure how that helped).
Eithne who had originally accompanied St. Columba' from Celtic Ireland in AD 563 is said to lie at rest on the island.
St. Columba was responsible for bringing Christianity to Scotland in the sixth century and it could be argued by extension, the wider world, lies at rest on Iona.
Good call on the Gulf of Corryvreckan "Discretion is the better part of valour"

Thanks for the details! We were not aware of that, but we didn‘t land on the island. Fascinating!

We did an episode on Iona and St Columba last year. He was also in Tréguier / Brittany as we found out visiting the cathedral there.
