Hang in there Tracy. We really appreciate you showing the highs and the lows of smallholding life. Look forward to seeing the paddock plot bouncing back as we’re sure it will. Laying on all that bedding etc is bound to make a difference, especially for next year. Really enjoy your vlogs. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Ah that’s lovely of you saying that. I’m feeling completely motivated after sleeping on it as they say and have plans afoot ! Thank you for watching and commenting, I really enjoy people getting involved 💚
Great video hun, you shouldn’t say sorry for the length of it, I enjoyed every minute, I too had a nightmare with my animals, I put roughly about 200 plants on my garden table to harden off ready to go up my allotment and my chickens escaped and eat the lot, and I mean the lot!!! So so heart breaking but you need to pick yourself back up and say sod it..... I will start again, your greenhouse looks amazing and you should be very proud of that, please don’t make the videos shorter..... longer would be better lol, keep smiling hun, tomorrow is another day x
Thank you Maria, your comments always make my day. So sorry to hear you’ve also had troubles with animals! And I love your attitude, sod it for sure. Onwards we go 💚
Hi Tracy Thanks for the vlogs, some useful tips. Like you I was looking forward to the downpour forecast on Sunday in Gateshead, alas it was more of a whimper. I really feel for you, I might have slugs, caterpillars and butterflies, but least not many Lambs roaming free on my estate. Have a large Gin and lamb chops . Tommy
Hi Joe, That’s super kind of you to say and thank you for commenting. I’m sick of waiting for rain haha, we’ve had a sprinkle but that’s about it. One thing is gardeners can all relate to are pests one way or another. Yes, look forward to the end result 💚
Those naughty lambs are going to taste so much better now! Sorry to see their destruction. It's very disheartening but you're onto it now. At least you know they don't care for potatoes and tomatoes. I'm enjoying your journey :-) All the best, Avis
Calcium deficiencies can cause blossom end rot too, so that might be something to look into supplementing if it's not a water issue. Our ground is looking like yours, all cracked and as hard as concrete! We got a little rain but not as much as promised either. I hope you can find a solution to the lamb problem, little buggers. I think you're doing a great job in that area considering what you started with! Planting in cardboard then spreading it all in autumn is genius. I reckon it'll be great next year once all that manure has worked its way in. Don't blame you for giving up and getting a gin though ;)
Thank you for that, I’ll take a look at the advise. It’s so frustrating when you put so much in to it. Little rain due tomorrow night here! Thank you for your encouragement 🌱💚
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure It is frustrating, especially when things are so time sensitive, knowing you have to wait another year if things go wrong! I've just pulled a tester garlic out of a raised bed (which is sat on concrete) and it's not really developed, the whole bed looks pretty puny and like I'm going to have 50 heads of nothing. I've got another 40 in ground that look much better so hopefully I'll get some harvest but it's pretty disappointing, I guess they just didn't get enough nutrients in the raised bed. We live and learn!
😮😮 Nawty lambs!!! 😩 Did you see Huw’s (make use of weeds) chop and drop video? You can get a lightweight battery strimmer for around £50 (and 2 spare spool lines for under £10) that would be really handy for strimming younger weeds. They’re really light weight yet perfectly capable of whizzing through young weeds. I know the idea is to mulch to suppress the weeds in that area and improve the soil, but since I’ve bought mine, I’ve not looked back re time saved.
Only having a 3x9 meter container garden so have to share it with my dog. He has eaten all the courgettes, peas and mange tout so feel your lamb pain. My outdoor tomatoes look fab but I put them too close to the washing line which we cant now use. Oh the life of a gardener, no mater what its size
@@OurSmallholdingAdventure I have 6 varieties Alissa Craig, Moneymaker, Black Russian, Orange Queen, Gardeners Delight and Craigella on had a couple off them all so far but the fruit is there just not red yet
One day we’ll all be weed free 😂 (maybe I’m still dreaming 😉) we actually have rain! So the weeds will be loving that but hopefully the veg will too 💚🌱

Good for you, keep going. It’s great to see real life gardening, rather than immaculate beds . Glad there are other people with weeds!
Thank you Sharon! Oh I can guarantee weeds haha, that is one definite! Appreciate your comment 💚

Thank you Avis! Oh I was so mad but inwards we go! So true, tomatoes and potatoes looking untouched so we can live of that worst case ;)

What a fantastic story though! I think we have to laugh or we’d cry! What variety are your outdoor toms? Mine are Outdoor Girl
