I experienced the same spotting on my Congo when I found it getting too close to direct light. My small space made it tricky to find a spot and I didn't realize it was getting too much morning light until I noticed the speckling pattern, once I moved it, I didn't experience any worsening of spots!
Great! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for sharing.
My plant has the same spots. I had googled it and the result that I got was when water sits on the plants it causes this to happen. So I make sure to wipe my leaves down.
Ah! Interesting- I couldn’t tell if it was serious or not
@@TylerMossop when the leaves unfurl. I find that there are water droplets that are present. That’s when the damaged happens.
I propagated my philodendron congo and it is now planted in soil with roots. Do you know how long it should take to see new growth/leaves? Thank you!
I have to get one they are beautiful, I live in South Texas on the border and it's very humid and winters are mild.
My Philodendron Imperial Majesty has those spots, but my Congo Rojo a few feet away has none.
interesting! Lmk if anything develops, mine seems totally fine atm.
Thanks for the useful information. Side question, where did you get those cloches?

I think the spots are inflorescence nectarine that have spotted the leaves. I thought I had a disease on some of my philodendrons but after watching a Pretty In Green video he says it’s normal in the philodendrons.
Hey Tyler...new to your show & enjoying it. As I mentioned, I grow in LECA. Can you suggest to me, 3 Philos, that would do well & that I would be successful with in LECA. Also, kindly keep in mind, a price range!!!
Best thing to do is go to your local nursery and see what they have available!
Great video! It's tough finding content on this one. I have my plants in my entryway which is large with a high, SE window. It's a high ceiling, lots of space, etc. Is there a humidifier that would help in just my plant area without encouraging mildew? I get mildew on my terra cotta every time I water.
You could try getting a small personal humidifier
It may not be mildew but salts in your hard water?
What happens if the red pots are on all the leaves but plant is growing.
Where'd you get the tall glass plant dome enclosures from?

I got one yesterday.. i need all the tips :)
Congrats!
What a good fertilizer you recommend! Like name
Are you looking to buy online or from your local nursery?
@@TylerMossop online :)
@@ashleyrodriguez7430 you can search for a philodendron specific fertilizer - there will be many options, I don’t have a specific go-to product I use exclusively.
My red congo has red spots on the leaves. Why did that happen. I took it out of soil and put it in just water.
So does it have Mosiac virus? What a scary thing to put out there! Please post an update for your statement since my rojo congo has some spots on it.
I dont think it was but dont know for sure! New growth doesnt have those spots
Those spots are extra floral nectaries, not mosaic virus. These are just spots where the philodendron produces sugary sap to attract beneficial insects. Sometimes they do this if there is a pest as the beneficial bugs they are looking to attract will eat pests, but some philodendron just produce them regardless. The philodendron narrow is a good example. The spots will look worse if you are giving the philodendron higher light as the spots will burn I’m higher light as the sap droplets essentially act as a magnifying glass. Moving the philodendron out of direct light may minimize the look of the EFNs.
@@StasiaPenguinhey! Thanks for this information, super useful. Also helpful to know the lighting conditions can impact what you’re describing. All my philodendron are inset and receive bright indirect light!
@@StasiaPenguinexactly what I thought. Thanks.😊
Do you know if one can keep this philo under phytolamp?🤔
You could
Is the Congo rojo the same as the Congo apple?
I don’t believe so
What the virus called . When i got mines i deep clean, everything :) it look find now
That’s good!
I have no luck with the philo congo rojo,. I have killed 3 . I owed many philodendrons and I have no problem with them. just giving up on the philo congo rojo😒..
Oh no! What seems to be the issue?
@@TylerMossop I guess root rot. Too much water or not enough?? But all my other philodendrons are thriving. . After seeing how beautiful your congo rojo is. I might try one more time. 😬.
@@mouzziel a pot with drainage is really important
What I have noticed is all philodendrons needs good drainage n they r very slow growers
Can i dm you on ig:) i have some questions
