I got a border collie before I ever thought of riding horse and workin cows... seems that I picked the right pup for the trade! This was really neat, looks like something I could try.
They have a basic idea of what to do. But they don't know certain commands they need to in order to work with you. A young border collie will often split up a herd and simply cause a mess. They need the training to learn where to move the herd, how far back to stay, when they should move (if you are trailing behind.) they're born with the outline, but they know very little of what they really need to do.
That’s really good. What a wonderful dog!! So well trained. May I ask....do you have to use that bit for your horse? Is there a reason using that one in particular or could you use a snaffle perhaps? He seems to be chewing away on it.
You're supposed to train them? I thought Border Collies naturally knew how to herd- when the pups were old enough we just put them out with the sheep & cows and they knew what to do immediately.
This guy uses voice commands! Really? I never used voice commands on my three collie dogs. You should whistles, especially when your in a field. When you use a voice command it can become gargled the farther away your dog is, but a whistle will stay nice and clear.
This dog is adorable and so smart. I have a lab and a few mutts, maybe I can teach them this too! It sure would help.
love this. a working dog is a happy dog. wish I had some stock for my heeler to work. I feel guilty that he doesn't have a job to do.

that was great. My dog is so full of puppy she can't get the idea of come bye or way to me. So where do start with that?

Yeah, they bite them all up. They need to know when to stop and get them into a trailer and get back to you.
jeyonce knowles you arent really smart, hm?
@@tobiaskaiser8925 don't be an asshole. Just because jeyonce doesnt know everything about borders doesn't mean they aren't smart
