I had a hard landing and the camera flew off the gimbal and tore the ribbon cable. A hobby shop installed the new gimbal cable but said the needed a special tool to firmly attach the camera to the gimbal. Do I need to take it someplace to re attach the camera or can I do it myself and how do I do it
This is a nice thought, however I had one of these on my P2V and after my first crash landing it bent the gimbal arm and stripped the screws out of the back. The whole Assy was junk after words. I'm not sure but I think it was a wast of mo eye for me. All though i did feel very protected until I crashed. From a low altitude I might add.
Had it installed, but my gimbal broke just above the gimbal saver. Wasn't worth it in my case but as far as quality and manufacturing goes its a top notch part.
CNC machining & set up to make a part is not cheap. I can see where this metal piece adds strength over the factory stock piece, but, the rest of the components beinbg plastic, haven't you just moved the weak point to another location?I wish that announcer had explained in a more detail how this new piece adds safety in a crash, or is it just effective in hard landings?
doest it fits in the phantom 3 standard gimbal ? doest it really helps i mean i never land hard , may bey if you crash but i think that this is not going to help in crashes . what do you think ?
Sam Jackson i know it but most of the times i fly over 50 meters of altitude , i think that this gimbal saver dont help if you crash at that altitude , may be if you crash near to the ground or something like that , also i never land that fast the phantom 3 is really stable and as soon you stop the descending throttle the quad stops , may be is for older phantoms or people that fly near to the ground or use the phantom for racing or flying in dangerous areas
+GTDrone see height doesn't matter. the magnetic hold the gimbal uses WILL hold and not fail with this part. You are more saving a ribbon cable than the gimble. Remember height doesn't change force when falling from any height over about 60ft. A drone falling from 80ft hits the same as one from 1200ft.
+GTDrone Terminal Velocity. That's the main idea here. Most think if you fall higher you fall faster exponentially but that's just common ignorance. This product is proven and on paper as well as application, helps a whole lot.
+Jordan Jones So you think you can have a part cnc machined for less ?I can tell you that I own a machine shop and simple setup for cutting the part alone is far more than this price.Do us all a favor and make some with a cheaper price.I am curious to see what you come up with.
+scanjackson email drone camps@gmail.com and we can take care of that for you. Mention in the email what you would like done, and we will forward a shipping address. - JD.
The gimbal and camera housing all are made of plastic.. normally any drones from from 100 or even 50 meters high will surely break the legs and gimbal into pieces. no way this gimbal saver will do any help. I have seen many drones falling and the drone is gone into pieces.. the camera broke into pieces since its made of hard plastic material. not iron or silver.
This is not worth it imo. Your gimbal can still break with it on, so might as well not waste money on it. Now if it prevented gimbal breaking completely, then yea it would be worth it.
So how does that protect my gimbal? I don't understand what it does or how it helps.
Wonder how that effects the plastic gimbal lock that hold the gimbal secure?
+Stephen Nicholas The plastic gimbal lock still fits perfectly fine with the Killer RC Gimbal Saver.

Here's a question..Can you replace a GoPro gimbal with a factory gimbal on a phantom 3 standard?
What is the correct name of the motor that the save protects
have u heard of the sky hero anakin. ..if so what u think of it
Haha I can’t believe I’m watching this year’s later. Fun stuff to watch
hi dear i have problem with my cam so i would like to fit the go pro in dji 3 4k is possible?
I assume this would work fine for the P3 Advanced 2.7K assembly? Thanks..
ALL of the Phantom 3"S
Not seeing it saving the camera much. Great tutorial though
***** I'm guessing you've not yet crashed and broken the expensive ribbon cable? It happens a lot. Look at all the ribbon cables for sale on eBay.

I keep a powerful magnet for picking up dropped screws. I do it all the time.
the Phantom 3 version looks the same as the P2V+. Are they the same size?
korling99 similar but mechanically milled on different screw holes.
korling99 The Phantom 3 has two extra screws on the backplate, compared to the Phantom 2 Vision+
any of u guys of the sky hero anakin
eso mismo me paso hoy donde puedo comprar esa pieza

+GTDrone You obviously don't know how the gimble is assembled and what holds it together

+GTDrone I would bet a paycheck that if you drop from 150ft your gimbal will fail in itself far before the mounts.
That's the point of this part.
Is this still available?
found it! Thank you!
Great video. Lots cheaper than a new gimbal, and certainly cheaper than a $60k CNC machine that makes these parts.
$47.99 is overpriced for what you get, just sayin
+Jordan Jones not bad considering the camera cost is $679

+Sam Jackson eBay has these for like 6 dollars
Got em! lol
At least you get a mint with it.
just got a phantom 3 4k with an extra battery and case
Alternatively, hand catch your bird.
+Drone Camps RC How much would you charge if I was to ship you my drone and you do the install? :-)

I will, thank you.
Appreciated
Thats pricey for such a small piece
so is it worth it? :)
***** See the end of the video. Yes. Lots cheaper than a new $700 gimbal.

Actually it costs a lot of bucks, my camera. Came apart , and my ribbon still broke....save your money and look around....
