- I received a lovely email back in February requesting I make a cover of this enchanting song from the 1961 classic "The Innocents". Off I went to borrow it from the local library and instantly fell in love. This is a story I've seen on stage ("The Turn of the Screw") and it translates beautifully on-screen.
Mind you, I had every intention of making this feel really scary for Halloween - as it's quite spooky in the film - but the more I sang it, the sadder I felt. Even though the story is chilling, it's also steeped in incredible tragedy. ♥ Happy Halloween, friends!

In fact, no one would ever be taken again, and no one has been taken to this day.
For the rest of her days, the gardener would gaze into reflections, hoping to see her face. Her own lady in the lake. She'd leave her door open at night, just a crack, should she ever come back. Waiting for her lover to return.
This is an amazing song for the haunting of Bly Manor, and it's a great song anyone else think's so.

I am one of those people who came here after watching The Haunting of Bly Manor teaser ☺
I'm happy more are going to uncover both this brilliant song (the cover here and the original), as well as may prompt more to check out the 1961 The Innocents film (which is where this song is from, which was a film adaption of The Turn of the Screw, the same book that The Haunting of Bly Manor is loosely adapting). The theme was very important to the film, and I'm delighted that Bly Manor seems to be retaining the melody in their own adaption.

Here i am in 2024 about to watch Bly for the third time in its entirety, I cant explain , this show did made me feel so many emotions, not to big to admit i cried like a baby to some parts, i think when youve experienced love & indeed loss though that is to be expected.
Okay, when I first heard the song from the Bly Manor teaser, it sounds so eerie, so ghostly. But when I read the lyrics, suddenly it so different now.

This song is both haunting and beautiful. Just the way it's lyrics emphasise on the tragedy of two lovers, it makes me squirm everytime. Plus, it's also empathetically sung which really immerses us into the mood n vibe. Moreover, its an original score masterpiece of Jack Clayton's 1961" The Innocents".This song actually makes me sob and feel creeped out all at the same time.
I think this one has to be my favorite, or at least one of my favorites. I have always wanted to figure out a way to cover this beautiful haunting song and I think I want to take a leaf out of your book. That piano backing is amazing, and a complement your voice so well.
