The setup I love on my mk7.5 is using OEM GTI Clubsport S rotors and pads. Nice 2-pc design that's lighter and dissipates heat quicker, and it's proven VW OEM quality. The Clubsport brake pads are a night & day difference over stock. StopTech's are fine, but they're a heavy 1-pc design.
One thing I find that helps with the big carrier bolts is to turn the wheel all the way then a long breaker bar will fit and you can work outside of the wheel well.
Hey, I´m doing Brembo z18 6pot with 345mm clubsport rotors, and Ebc Yellow stuff, and for the rear 310mm from Golf R with Brembo 4pot with eletric parking brake. Hoping to get the results I want, I like to be super agressive when I´m driving so I dont mind with the overkill brakes, when we really need it u will not regret it. Cheers man
@@LastHumansGarage I plan to burn them in by 10x 100kph to 50kph and 10x 100kph to 30kph, with sufficient cooling in between. There is no manual or any info with the CS-S pads, so I will just have a go at it. But I will have to mount them first :-) My only worry is getting the rotors off, they have been on there for 8 years...
@@GTI_CHHA BRO.... that is and has been one of my future mods. prob the next one... i mean its well worth a couple lb weight saving per wheel to me.. and i may even notice a difference, who knows... but right now im still paying for all my new PC parts by selling ataris.. but i did get my youtube monthly 400 yesterday which did help me pay for the new monitor.
oh bro.. i never made a video, but i also took them off. because of that rear hack i had to do.. but then i just ran fronts. and eventually decided screw it, might as well take the fronts off too. i didnt like looking at the "front" of the fronts" walking to the car, and it was a mess of molding and weird shapes.
Not sure if you have a jack stand under there but it looks like you dont. If you are going to be working on your car for that long you for sure want to use a jackstand.
oh, for question 2.. yes,. i use hubcentric rings. i had a recent video set about vibration and shit which i figured out. you have to mount and seat those wheels very carefully before setting it back on the ground.
Just out of curiosity ( I know this is a daily driver and you didn’t want to go crazy with the brakes) but what would your dream brake kit setup be for your car and still be functional?
@@clutchthepearls3062 one thing on that though Macan upgrade is some reports of too much pedal travel and a few work arounds for it. Mega thread over on golfmk7 has some details.
The rubber piece on the pin is so when your not on the brakes the caliper doesn’t cause noise over bumps
SWEET info!
Perfect timing, getting ready to put mine on jack stands for this very thing.
sick bro. but i had to make you wait at least 2 hours.. cuz this video combined w editing took about 4 hours.

i may get those some day.
they are $500 EACH!?!

oh ya , i forgot that, but youre right
@@LastHumansGarage too bad you can't do that on the rears...hahahahaha. They are a PITA!
Great mechanic work 👍 Look forward to doing mine this season
Thanks 👍
Nice work mate.
Wondering why you didn't go with OEM Clubsport S rotors which are exceptional? Drilled from factory + 900gr weight saving per disk.
damn, i have never heard of that mod. the weight savings sounds nice, but i bet they cost a lot more than $150 each...
2 lbs is huge.. look those up for me, interested in the price.

those are awesome rotors too i hear. congrats. i bet they were more expensive than mine tho? but right, no harm in "too much" braking... lol
You are killin' me getting under the car without jackstands. That is a big No-No at my house.
there was jack stands.. best not to assume.
LastHumansGarage yeah you dock head
Nice job, perfect execution.
thanks, it was one of the smoothest non-problematic jobs I've had in a while.

How did you widen the piston? I usually have to use a c clamp and it’s a nightmare
Channel locks, large ones. its all above leverage. but be gentle, dont scratch your paint or your rubber piston boot.
