Thank you so much for the kind words. 💕 Albania has stolen our hearts for sure and we will definitely be returning soon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful country with us. ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Albania seems to be a great place to slow travel. We would love to check it out soon so knowing the cost helps out. The AirBnb looks great and the food looks amazing. Look forward to seeing your UK adventures.
Thanks! We greatly appreciate the kind words. Albania is definitely one of our favorites and a great option when needing to exit the Schengen. So far the UK/Scotland have been fantastic. We can’t wait to share our road-trip with you! ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Omg!! I haven’t talked to you in so long (btw it’s me Kaylee your old student) we finally moved and also your videos are really interesting I love it guys!
Hi Kaylee! It’s great to hear from you. Hope you are having a great start to the year. Thanks for watching our videos. Please say hi to everyone for me!
I love that you guys are living your best lives. It looks so fun!! I am one of your old students, but I dont wanna name myself because I dont want people to know who I am, Lol! Have a wonderful trip and we miss you!!
Thank you so much! We really are loving this travel lifestyle. We have already seen and done so much and we are just getting started. I miss you all too! If you want, send me a message on Instagram @jasonandmelissatravel
Glad you guys had a great time in Tirana. It comes as no surprise that you mentioned WALKABILITY of the city, as it is hard to find one town in the US that is that. No wonder the malls in the states play the role of the "walkable [mini] cities," for the PEOPLE experience you get in Albania and many other countries around the world.
You are so right! When we visit family back in the states and we walk somewhere, people look at us funny. 😂 Thank you so much for watching our videos! ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Thanks for watching our videos. We really appreciate you. I will add timestamps in the description of future cost of living videos. ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Been looking to retire somewhere w/o cold weather and a low cost of living. -- They have winter weather there (?) not something I am very fond of. S E Asia appeals to me more for the warm weather and much lower cost of living to be had ! -- Language is another issue for longer term stays and daily needs in Albania - perhaps better for vacation ? Menus are even difficult to understand ? > Cambodia has an awesome 'retirement visa' for expats over 55 ! Only $290 / year thru any travel agent. Cheap and easy with no BS qualifications. Siem Reap has US expats reporting living there quite comfortably on - ABOUT - $800 / mo. Social Security only - and - "not wanting for anything" ? Many locals speak English there and business signs road signs and menus are in English as well ! They even accept the USD !!! -- Worthy of a visit in my view - but we are all different - so some are sure not to like it ? -- I enjoyed your video and watch many of these in order to better decide where I might really enjoy my retirement for a home base - to travel from often. ❤👍🙏✌🍺
Is there anyway you guys could be a little more specific with your food costs? When you say for example $900 on going out- would you mind saying something like ‘We went out on average 10 times per week, 5 of which were sit down places on the higher side.’ It would really help the rest us budget. Thank you very much.
Thank you for the feedback. It really helps us out when making these videos. We will absolutely do a more detailed breakdown of our restaurant costs in our future cost of living videos. We do tend to eat out quite a bit 😆 Thank you for watching our videos! ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Thanks for watching our video! The average cost of a sit down restaurant meal would be somewhere around 9-14 U.S. dollars. Our bill was usually a bit higher because we would purchase drinks or a bottle of wine with dinner. I would definitely say around $12 was average for one meal. ❤️ Jason and Melissa
I don't know why they make such dumb rules that only allow a 90-day stay in the Schengen zone. We survive on tourism, and we need those tourist dollars. Those are some big budget numbers $600 on grocer and $1200 on accommodation.
I wish we could stay longer than the 90 days also. The budget was a bit high for the month. The grocery budget did include wine and such which increased the monthly cost. Thank you so much for watching our video! ❤️ Jason and Melissa
Politicians need to respond to voters' apprehension. You see, in Southern Europe, the anger this past summer over tourists. Limiting tourism, banning Airbnbs, and things like that help politicians look like they are responding to concerns without doing much.
Did any of these expenses surprise you? Have any additional questions? Please leave them in the comments! We are happy to help.

Ask locals its easy not a big science it costs at least 800 euro/month and its hell alot for us
I understand that the cost of living is quite high. These videos are mostly for people looking to move to Albania. Thank you for watching our video.
Tirana in July sounds like Texas in July.
That is the PERFECT comparison! Thanks for watching our video
❤️ Jason and Melissa
Albanian living in Texas,
It’s not that bad in Tirana, i think Texas is a step up haha
I think you’re right. At least the streets in Tirana are lined with trees which definitely helps!
