I feel like u kind of undersold Sumeru Act III. It has some of the most exciting and surprising moments in the Sumeru, with the Dottore appearance, the Scaramouche backstory cutscene, the Scaramouche being in Sumeru tease, and he Cyno vs Alhaitham fight. Sure it’s a transition quest but man it has to be the most exciting transition quest in the game!
Similar to how Lord of the Rings was like the amalgamation of J.R.R. Tolkien's experiences in World War I, Perilous Trail felt to me like the fantastical retelling of someone who just survived a really horrible cave in. The claustrophobia felt so real and I still remember being somewhat exhausted after that final cutscene.
Hello! I pretty much agree with your rating. I am really sad that Inazuma was a such wasted potential. War would be so great subject if treated with more respect. We did not see it's effects on the common people, on the land. And I think that's the biggest problem od Inazuma - all important parts that are happening in the background are not shown, they are told. We do not see why Kokomi would be such grand strategist. We do not see how the war would change the people lives. We do not see how the visions are being hunted, how the resistance is fighting, what Yae is doing. Except Ei parts, all other stuff is only told and it is making them to feel unimportant, almost like a filler between couple of good Raiden Shogun cutscenes. And after the quest? Decrees were abolished, we had a date with Ei and that's all? Nobody asks question "hey, we suffered so much, why was it like that? Who would repair the damage? What even was damaged?" It's like, there was a war one day, then we lose to Raiden, then we meet the Kokomi, then we win against Raiden, and war is over. Go on citizen, there's nothing here to see. And I really like the cast. Yae and Ei had interesting vibes, Ayaka as innocent as helpful, Yoimiya as a unchanging spark of hope. Monumental fight with Signora. All parts were there, they only thing that was lacking was a glue that should connect them in one grand epic plot. Things just happens and that's all
Goodness, though I pretty much agree with what you said, some are just pure nitpicking. "We did not see it's effects on the common people, on the land." Inazuma first Act, Ayaka and Yoimiya story quests(that are mandatory to continue the main AQ) already show effects of the two decrees on the people and people's view on eternity. The SKK decree affects foreign and local traders. Inazuma has always been isolated from the rest of the world, and outsiders aren't really welcome. The VHD only affected vision users. So, the common people remain indifferent to the situations tho they are not very pleased with SKK decree. And the land? This is the most obvious thing to notice. "Except Ei parts, all other stuff is only told and it is making them to feel unimportant" You got it the opposite. All of ei's lores are bumped to us by Yae Miko while all other stuffs receive enough exposure through world quests. Ei barely received charaterizations in the And this is one of the main reasons why Ei gets so many mischaraterizations to this day. "Who would repair the damage?" Ei and Kokomi. Ei had arrested the Commission heads that betrayed her and issued directives to help rebuild war torn areas and many decrees aimed at supporting various industries of Inazuma(Kuki even said thanks for that). Well, that's all I remember. All of Inazuma Bulletin Boards are updated after AQ. You should check them out
I genuinely think liyue's and sumeru's last archon quests are as good as conclusions get. Liyue's end quest straight up throwing us against a god and showing what the humans of teyvat are capable of, and also showing the bad and chaotic side of fatui, allowing the player to get a better idea of just what exactly is going on in teyvat and the archons. Previously we've only seen fatui take a gnosis with force, and the way they took the geo gnosis was a nice contrast and a way of telling "they will do anything to get the gnoses, whether it may be via force or deal" Sumeru's end quest on the other hand writes a really good "us against the world" type of story, with people putting their differences aside to work towards rescuing a literal god who was taken advantage of and imprisoned by the very people she was meant to protect and guide. And it also explains what exactly happens when a gnosis falls into the wrong hands. It also sets up future stories very well, along with a new potential main villain, and explains the world of teyvat from the gods' perspective and adds to the lore. That is honestly why I think Inazuma's end quest failed, it did not really show us anything we haven't seen before. A truly evil god we've already seen the previous archon quest, instead they try to move away from many things that were already established, such as raiden being portrayed as a purely evil god, in order to try to shift the players' perspective drastically. Which didn't work, because it was rushed. One thing they did right was the traveler's development I suppose, as they moved from defeating Childe to Signora (which they later on ruined by making the traveler do literally nothing in fontaine archon quest and get solo'd no diff by Arlecchino lmao)
There're 2 acts aside from the last acts of each regions that conclude everything. first is Sumeru act 2, one of the best in my heart, it really made me so surprise when the loop started to happen. the quest got me think along the traveler what's happening. second is Fontaine act 1, maybe because of previous acts made traveler a criminal in every regions we stepped foot on. the atmosphere made me uneasy all the time and anticipate for when traveler would get accused. In the end, it's not happen, what a surprised.
what about fontaine's arc 2, where the mystery of the dissapeared ladies was finaly closed? when i ended that arc in 4.0 i thought "cool, but now what will we do?"
idk if i missed it or not but i think you forgot the most recent dainsleif quest??? also i think i would rate a lot of sumeru and fontaine higher. there was just something about the two nations that was so enthralling!! althought i also could just be stuck in nostalgia--i havent replayed either of the stories
Agreed with almost everything, except bumping some parts of Sumeru and Inversion of Genesis to A even tho I am not the biggest Wanderer simp. Sad that Inazuma AQ is a pain point in the main story, as the Buddhist themes, characters, scenery and worldbuilding through WQ are very very good, it just fell flat in terms of execution, especially Kokomi and Watastumi War. Ei also has the least appearances in the game, even if her lore is more fleshed out than Zhongli and Venti who are deliberately hiding stuff, which leads to a lot of misunderstanding and mischaracterisation. Also ppl who dun like Genshin use Inazuma AQ writing as their ammo for arguements
I think the Inazuma archon quest is misunderstood by virtually everybody. The story quest was never about Inazuma but a hint to what is to come what the archons are prepared to do to defend it's own nation against the awakening of the Heavenly Principles. Ei was convinced that humanity has no real chance in the war and therefore the best course of action is to submit to it's will. It's only after Kazuha meets Ei's blade that she understands that something has changed within the fate of Theyvat because it was basically not supposed to be possible. After that event she begins a transformation. This is not because of anything the traveller does or doesn't do, but simply that the archons understand how fate is tied to the world. Whatever the traveller impacts those events is very possible I believe the traveller acts like a conduit for people with strong desires. Ei wanted deep inside to be rescued and therefore the traveller was able to use the visions of her people just like Venti wanted more than anything to purify Dvalins tears. Yae Miko knew that from the beginning and manipulates events so Signora and the traveller arrives before Ei's throne at the same time, making it impossible to decline a duel, the winner of said duel has free passage out this forces EI to let the traveller inside her plane of euthymia. All of this was done to make EI let her guard down. She then gives Scara the Gnosis which in turn triggers the whole Sumeru plot it is very possible that Miko knew that's is what is going to happen. It reveals who Dottore is and Scara understands that his hatred for humanity was manufactured by Dottore by killing the only family he ever known. But it creates an ally for Nahida because Scara will forever be in depth to her for revealing his truth. Looking at it from a larger perspective Pierro basically lures both Scara and Dottore and so two chess pieces are sacrificed in order to close in on the kings position. Or queen?
HI I wasn't able to answer it happens on YT. Normally I would be inclined to agree with you but there are to many "coincidences" that lead up to Signora being there. First and foremost Venti is not using his abilities to fight Signora, because his braid does not light up during the cut scene. He is faking resisting for whatever reason you can go back and look at the cut scene if you like. Zhongli already had a deal with Tsaritsa long before Signora arrives for the GEO Gnosis, the consequences of this is that Signora travels directly to Inazuma
IMO is even more global, everybody but a few very into the lore gets that Archon Quests are about the Archons, Prologue is Venti's Chapter, and subsequently, every archon story is just about the discovery of the traveler of an archon, the development with him development and how our interrumptions in the natural flow of their life, Genshin story developments is divided in 4 paths and even the game itself denotes them very clearly: Archon quests are about what I just talk about, we try to fix the Venti- Dvalin dilema, that's a Venti problem that we help him to fix while understanding why Venti governates as he do, everything in one sentence that prevails in this arc "Is freedom really freedom if is dictated to you by a god?", then we are another pawn in the chess of Zhongli to test his own citizens if they lived up to his expectations under the rules or contracts he have been teaching for more than millenia, we helped tRaiden to understand the whole psicologic paradigm she had because she was in an Euthymia (here the why of that mision name) and help her to change her mind, on Sumeru we helped Nahida to came back to her position as archon that was usurped by the Sages exploiting her unmaturity as an archon something that make her grow 500 years under the ignorance of her people and restablish a better form of knowledge while also understanding the world ina more personal level than in a world quest because well, nahida is literally the irminsul avatar, and on Fontaine we actually experience not Furina, but Foçalor's deception plan deceiving her whole nation in pro of what she enbodied as justice, the jsutice for her people and how it has to be archived (reason why she destroyed her throne), World Quests are that, quests that develop Teyvat itself for the traveler and make him understand more the world, Character Story Quests are for know specifically characters in more of a 1v1 situation and how their personalities affect other threads of story between them, and then there are the Traveler's Quests that while arecalled Archon quests, on the story log are usig the traveler's crest instead of regional crests for archon quests, this ones are about out own journey searching and understanding the relationship with our sibling. all this 4 plot-lines accur parallel to each other and are asumed between them that you have some knowledge about the 4 threads os story to conflux them for the best understanding about the whole "Journey", this make that people expect know about the world and/or characters solely from archon quests, but that's just incomplete information for what many of them want. In a more personal opinion about your comment I think you're giving Yae too much credit tho, but is true that many threads of story are being developed simultaneusly, not necesary with Yae in between,
While what u say is soo interesting, from a gameplay or arc perspective we dont see that points when we are playing the Story quest for the first time. Like in retrospective for sure it's interesting, but at that time it was kinda dissapointing. The main problem of course was that we were Expecting a war and it wasn't enough big and that the plot itself was like meaningless like there was no "mystery" to solve since we fight against the Shogun we already have our objective clear which was defeating her. Archon quests generally live because of that Mystery in the air, that part we dont know to solve everything; Every arc has it except Inazuma. I hope something similar do not happen with Natlan, which im sure it will not because it's the break part of the entire story based on the First trailer and that is the last region before Sznesnahya.
@@santi3256 Hoyo has done that in the past in a game called Honkai Impact. Now I understand most people have not played that game but since I have I know how they like telling stories and a lot of plot points and tools are used in this game as well. Honkai Impact has something called the imaginary tree for instance it's safe to say that Irminsul was directly inspired by that. It's just that to many weird things happen for it to be a coincidence. For instance you can look back when Venti meets Signora, his braids is not lighting up when he is "using" his elemental powers, almost like he is not trying to fight her. While that might be an oversight when they started the game I really do not believe so, because it never happens again. It's much more likely that its a part of the story.
@@santi3256 The war has not happened Ei foreshadows that the war is going to happen and it's probably sooner than people expect. Now I am not sure but I think there is a possibility that the heavenly principles awaken while we are in Natlan. I understand the disappointments but I kind of think they are going to revisit the archon quest and explain what really went on. Still no real explanation were the electro dragon is for instance Apep did not mention her, and neither did Neuvilette so there is something that is going on. If I am not mistaken the pyro dragon has not been mentioned in any context either and we already know there were 7 sovereigns, so were are they. A current theory is that Ei is the electro dragon she just doesn't know she is.
Fontaine AQ sucked ass hard . It made 0 sense. Let me clear up what I mean when I say that it made no sense: 0.5. Actually, a point that I just remembered that happens before we even get to Fontaine is Rhodesia , you know, the Oceanid in Liyue that says " ....we just wanted but a small patch of tranquil waters, is that too much to ask?". What exactly did she mean by this? The writers clearly forgot that they set something up about the waters of Fontaine not being tranquil , because the Primordial Water should not do anything to Oceanids, only to Oceanids that were transformed into humans, so what exactly is there that Rhodesia ran away from? Also, her flight from Fontaine implied that some oceanids are still there and so far we found.....none, at least none in their original form. 1. Why did Liney chose that plan in order to get into the Oratrice? He had plenty easier ways that would allow for WAY more time to research the Oratrice. He could have sent Lynette for example in his stead and have her not be involved in any magical trick for as long as he would have wanted. He could have sent some other Fatui members of the House of the Harth. Liney's plan simple made no sense. 2. Why did Vacher try to frame Liney in the first place? His crimes literally leave no traces, so why kill Haley in specific and frame it on Liney? 3. Where is the actual Haley? If you remember, a Mondstad thief impersonates Haley and the trial begins and the Guardes supposedly gather information about Haley. Why did they not inform her parents that she is missing and possibly dead? And if they did, how come they did not found out that she was alive and well? There were some more points I think, but it has been a while since I talked about how bad the Fontaine AQ is , so I forgot some of the points at this part. The part with Navia was mostly fine as far as I am concerned. Then we get to the Fortress of Meropide with is 100% pointless, as it makes no sense why Neuvilette cannot just go down there and gather information about Childe's whereabouts or just ask Rio. They gave the excuse that the Fortress is not under Fontaine jurisdiction , which is plain false, since Neuv just waltzed in there to fix the whole Primordial Water trouble and clearly nobody can stop him. On top of that, every guard in the Fortress is a Fontainian citizen, so what does he mean by no jurisdiction? The only thing we did in the fortress was wasting time. The only thing that might seem important was the Ark of Rio, except that the fool only deployed it after the Nation was flooded, which is a very interesting strategy taking into consideration that the problem was not the flood as much as the people dissolving in that water, meaning that bringing the Ark out AFTER, is pointless. And then we get to the last part of the Archon quest which literally makes no sense and its pointless. It makes no sense because of Focalor's plan. So lets go through her plan: 1. Go to the bottom of the sea and think of a solution. 2. Found the solution. 3. Make Furina in order to have a replacement 4. Gethers indemnidium. 5. Befriend Neuv and make him love humans. 6. W8 500 years to gather indemnidium. 7. Kill yourself in order to give the Hydro Authority to Neuv. 8. Neuv makes the humans of Fontaine actual Humans. The problem with her plan is that : 1. How did she know that killing herself with that much power would destroy the Throne of Hydro? Did this happen before or was it just a lucky guess? And if it was...... well, then she is rly rly stupid for making a 500 years plan based on a "maybe". 2. Why did she need Furina as a stand-in? The Tsaritsa has been in open rebellion against the heavens for at least 500 years too, so why would Focalors gathering that much Indemnidum gather any sort of punishment from the heavens when The Tsaritsa is open about what she does? 3. He plan is missing a core aspect, and that is the question of what exactly will she do when the Heavens see that the Throne of Hydro got destroyed? Idk about you, but her plan is a very good recipe for Khanria 2.0. Unless she knew that the Heavens are asleep, in which case, why did her plan not just go this way: 1. Befriend Neuv. 2. Gather Indemnidium. 3. Make Furina 2 minutes prior to step 4. 4. Kill yourself. 4. Why are we to believe that Furina suffered all those 500 years? Surely she would get used to it after....2 years? 3? 10? Surely the pretense would become the reality of who she is at some point in time , or so second nature that she would derive no suffering from pretending anymore , right? But oh well, we need a victimized Archon even if her circumstances for that victimization makes no sense.. 5. Why was Egeria ruling over no humans? Why was she rulling over Oceanids? We know for a fact that the Archons exist to rule over humans, so what gives? We also know that Boreas/Andrius gave up his seat as Archon over to Venti, because he could not understand humans , so this more or less explicitly confirms that Archons are supposed to rule over humans. Now, there are plenty of other points, but I forgot many of them, but, the more you dig into the story of Fontaine the less sense it makes, trust me. Fontaine AQ is without a doubt one of the worst AQ to date if not the worst.
Venti still has one of the most memorable lines in my book: "Beauty is a waste if the beholder has no taste" 🥶
Resident rodent is best boy.

Let me clear up what I mean when I say that it made no sense:
So lets go through her plan:
1. Go to the bottom of the sea and think of a solution.
2. Found the solution.
3. Make Furina in order to have a replacement
4. Gethers indemnidium.
5. Befriend Neuv and make him love humans.
6. W8 500 years to gather indemnidium.
7. Kill yourself in order to give the Hydro Authority to Neuv.
8. Neuv makes the humans of Fontaine actual Humans.
The problem with her plan is that :
Unless she knew that the Heavens are asleep, in which case, why did her plan not just go this way:
